Ban Tail Docking on Dogs in Ireland

Tail docking is completely unnecessary and no doubt is done incorrectly when it is done resulting in irreversible problems for the dog. Don't people have anything better to do than butchering dog's tails?

This cannot be allowed it's barbaric behaviour and treatment of young pups and dogs

This barbaric practice should no longer be in existence! It comes from the dark ages! Especially all the talk regarding hunting dogs! All dogs are descended from the Wolf! Wolves hunt everyday. And - they all have Tails!

The fool who came up with this don't care to much for animals.pull off his/her fingernail and see if they think it was a cruel thing to do.

dogs tails have a purpose. It's about time people start looking to the future and the health of their dog instead of their own vanity on what they think the dog should look like.

This is an uncalled type of torture. If dogs tails were meant to be short then they'd be born as such.

How can it even be suggested that members of public be allowed to tail dock and remove dew claws? It's lunacy and a hugely backward step. If the people writing the bill ever saw some of the home botched jobs done on tails and the consequent pain and suffering for the animal, they could never even consider making such barbarity legal. Ban all tail docking, except in cases of injury and only then to be done by a vet. Dew claw removal should only ever be done on a vet's recommendation and carried out by a vet.
