Más Deaspite de los países la aceptación del lenguaje de signos que se utilizan en las escuelas para sordos, los niveles de alfabetización no han mejorado. Esto puede deberse en gran parte a la falta de normalización de la lengua de signos que se utilizan en la educación de los sordos en los países donde se ha aceptado la lengua de signos, la falta de investigación en educación de sordos y la falta de políticas de educación especial. Al celebrar la semana internacional de sordos, hacemos un llamado a los líderes de nuestra política para llegar a políticas claras en la educación de los sordos, a los investigadores a centrarse en la investigación en educación de sordos y de nuestros gobiernos en relación con el NADS para llegar a un lenguaje de señas standardl claros para usar en la educación de los sordos. Abrir de forma inclusiva todos los centros educativos a nuestra población, desarrollar las adaptaciones curriculares necesarias y fortalecer el bilinguismo (la enseñanza del español como segunda lengua -en forma correcta), romper las barreras de comunicación y enseñar a los oyentes lenguas de señas, ser accesibles en la información de las escuelas para padres y madres (ej: padres y madres sordos con hijos oyentes, padres y madres oyentes con hijos sordos) y apoyar de manera integral a las familias de personas sordas, y subsidiar el pago de intérpretes de lenguas de señas en todos los centros educativos (sean privados o nacionales) para las personas sordas que estén estudiando. Tales intérpretes deben ser acreditados por organizaciones de personas sordas e instituciones especializadas. |
