We demand a SPEED HUMP !!

UPDATE ! Community Speed watches petition to ESCC asking for traffic calming measures through the village of Jevington and signed by 68 residents from Willingdon, Wannock, and Jevington which also included a report from WCSW of their last five speed watch sessions in Jevington during November and December 2021 a total of ten hours in all where the details of 62 speeding vehicles were forwarded to Sussex Police to be dealt with by them and where the average speed of those 62 vehicles was 39mph in this 30mph zone.

Unfortunately it would seem that an email sent by Jevington residents Association to ESCC highways department which was read out at the meeting influenced the decision made by ESCC and on the 17^th January 2022 leading to recommendations by the Lead member to advise the petitioners that: (1) Speed humps or a traffic calming scheme in the Green Lane area of Jevington are not a priority for the County Council at the present time, and that a traffic calming scheme in Jevington does not currently meet the benchmark score for consideration within a future capital programme....In plain and simple English, they are not interested! One of our team Mrs Nita luce who is 86 years old has spent many long hours speed watching in the village because she cares and is absolutely devastated by how jevres have gone out of their way to interfere with our effort towards speed reduction in the village.

We are notifying all signatories to the petition regarding the deliberate intervention from Jevington residents association , we will also in due course be removing all of the speed-watch signs that we have erected over the past few years and needless to say none of us ever want to speed watch in Jevington again as very obviously we are not wanted there and certainly have not been appreciated for all the hundreds of hours we have devoted trying to do something positive for the good of all the residents of the village during the last ten years.

This petition is now with County Councillor Stephen Shing and will be passed to ESCC within the next few days, we now hope that something positive will be done regarding this traffic problem at this spot on the C40 Jevington Road.
