Stop Lewisham Council taking away the rights of adults with learning disabilities.

adults with learning disabilities have a right to be involved in decisions affecting their care. The changes being imposed by the council will deliver a second-class service which will impact the well-being of adults with learning disabilities.

Lewisham council are trying to alter my daughters transport which means she won’t be able to go to her centre.. They have not consulted with her or carried out an impact assessment before making this decision. People with learning disabilities have the right t have their voices heard

Everyone has a right to adequate care. This must never be allowed to happen and I am utterly disgusted that the Borough would even think this is acceptable. Shame on each of you for ever even considering such poor standards.

Natalie Cakebread (Rochester , 2022-08-05)

#46

This affects my daughter whose mental health has suffered greatly since covid the impact of these changes to her transport will make her anxieties worse.she like many others are only just beginning to re socialise with their friends the new timings will take away her very limited social life.Changes to routines are hard for her to cope with shame on you lewisham council

Val Hayler (London, 2022-08-06)

#49

You cannot take this service away. This affects whole families!!!!

Judy Parker (London, 2022-08-06)

#52

This will effect my sister, friends their wider family who like many others with disabled adults have suffered witht the knock on effects of the pandemic. Lack of social interaction has and will cause upset and extreme anxieties. Changes will mean no access to the limited social events that can be accessed in a safer environment, and no vital family time due to later finishes. Lewisham Council will be forcing these adults back in time where the view/opinion was that disabled people should 'be seen and not heard' now it seems to be a case of 'not seen and not heard'. Pull your finger out and give these people the voice and care they require and deserve!

I am disgusted the way the council have gone about this .I work so how am I supposed to be at work and be there at home to put my son in his cab ? There as not been any consideration gone in to this about how this affects the centre user or there parents/ careers

Diane Buckingham (London, 2022-08-06)

It's redicolous to even think about closing places like that. Council should do everything in they power to help people with disabilitys and they familys.

I’m signing because the government isn’t putting enough funding into these areas resulting in local authorities changing/removing vital support for the most vulnerable people in society and taking away their social life and independence. Care packages are vital for adults with learning disabilities. Not only for them but for their carers too. It allows the adults to continue their everyday routine without upset and their carers to continue to carry on working knowing their adult children are in a happy safe and stress free environment that they are familiar with. Any reduction in the care package will have a detrimental affect all round. They don’t ask for much in this world so just allow them to enjoy their days as they are now. In fact they need more funding not less.

Anne Rann (London, 2022-08-09)
