Save the Iona Club hall

January 2014 saw the immediate closure of the Iona Hall and the eviction of the Iona Club. This action was carried out without warning and left a thriving Gosport social club homeless.

Please sign the petition to help in the fight for the appropriate repairs to be made by the owners of the hall to allow the Iona Club to continue for many many more years.

The club provided a focal point of social activity for residents who live in the local area. Members of the club have raised many thousands of pounds for charity over the years and are highly respected in the local community.

The club has over 200 members, many of whom used the club on a regular basis, as well as the venue being used for various other activities such as wedding receptions, christenings and funerals etc.

The immediate closure of the club meant that stock and equipment had to be sold off cheaply causing financial distress.

The club has been in being for nearly 50 years thanks to the work of volunteer committee members and local families who give freely of their time.

Alarmingly the club was closed without its members being given an opportunity to fund repairs and improvements which they were willing to do and were financially capable of doing.
