For more than ten years, we have been fighting to get the WITKOP BLOCKHOUSE preserved, restored and protected. Few attempts have been made to salvage what is left of this unique heritage site, but the site is completely abandoned and being looted. Now the DA in Midvaal is launching a massive petition campaign to be delivered to PHRA-G (Provincial Heritage Resource Authority – Gauteng) and SDM (Sedibeng District Municipality).

 We demand:

• The restoration of the broken and deteriorated building and roof;
• Secure braces to keep the building from further collapsing;
• Secure fencing to keep looters and vandals out;
• Heritage site signage and warnings against trespassing and vandalism
• Regular inspection and upkeep of the site.
