We need our Zuurbekom police station opened again and kept fully operational, with its own S.A.P.S. vehicles. We do not want it to reopen as only a satellite station. When we have a problem, we must contact the Bekkersdal police station, which is almost 20 km away. In many cases, officers arrive only after three hours, and sometimes much later.
When community members need documents certified or need help with an affidavit, they have to travel by public transport, which is inconvenient for many people in the area.
We are an agricultural community, so security is extremely important to us. Farmers are facing serious problems such as livestock theft, and cable theft is also affecting our area. These are not the only challenges our community is dealing with.
