Protect Ontario Students: Urge Ontario to Resolve Career College Approval Delays

We, the undersigned students attending private career colleges across Ontario, are asking the Government of Ontario and the Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security (MCURES) to urgently address the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the approval of private career colleges for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Students across Ontario have made significant financial, academic, and personal commitments to pursue their education and prepare for their chosen careers. Many students rely on government student assistance to pay their tuition and meet their educational expenses.

We have been informed that the approval process for private career colleges for the 2026–2027 academic year remains under review. For many affected students, there has been no update to their status since June 29, 2026, despite the academic year now being underway.

As a result, students are facing uncertainty regarding the availability and timing of their funding while tuition payments and other educational expenses continue to come due.

Students should not be financially or academically disadvantaged by administrative delays that are outside of our control.

We respectfully ask the Government of Ontario and MCURES to:

• Provide students with clear and timely information about the status of the approval process;
• Expedite outstanding reviews and approvals wherever possible;
• Provide a clear timeline for resolution;
• Ensure students are not financially or academically penalized for delays outside of their control; and
• Communicate transparently with affected students and institutions about the steps being taken to resolve the situation.

Students have committed substantial time, money, and effort toward their education and future careers. We are asking the Government of Ontario to recognize the very real consequences this uncertainty is creating for students and their families.

We are asking Ontario to act urgently, provide clarity, and protect students from the consequences of an approval and funding process that is beyond our control.

By signing this petition, we are asking the Government of Ontario and MCURES to hear the concerns of students across Ontario and take meaningful action to resolve the current uncertainty.
