Petition to Stabilise the Electricity Grid in Reigerpark

The residents of Reigerpark are subjected to prolonged power outages after loadshedding. This is because of a fault at the Sub-Station on Gerry Oberholzer Street. Ramaphosa Informal Settlement is connected to the same substation, which has not been upgraded or adequately maintained for many years, and illegal connections are worsening the problem resulting in the substation being overloaded when the power is returned after loadshedding. An unstable power supply affects may residents who are sick an rely on oxygen machines, residents who are working from home, and local businesses who require electricity to operate.  Residents are also forced to throw away refrigerated food and must resort to buying cooked meals, which is unaffordable.  

We, the undersigned residents of Reigerpark, petition the MMC for Water, Sanitation and Energy, Cllr. Leshaka Manamela and the Department of Energy to implement a lasting solution to stabilise the power supply in Reigerpark.
