We, the undersigned, strongly oppose the new Rotorua CBD parking rules introduced on 1 July 2026.
The public does not want a parking system that is confusing, unfair, and discourages people from coming into the CBD. Requiring number plate entry, even for free parking, creates unnecessary stress and risks unfair fines for honest mistakes.
These rules are not good for residents, visitors, elderly people, workers, mobility users, customers, or local businesses.
We ask Rotorua Lakes Council to immediately remove these new parking rules and return to a simpler, fairer parking system that supports the Rotorua community and CBD businesses. Rotorua’s CBD should be easy to visit, not harder. We ask Council to listen to the public and reverse these changes.
