Assalaamu Alaykum Warahmatullaahi Wabaraqaatu
We, the undersigned congregants, residents, and stakeholders of Manenberg/Philippi Muslim Society, (Masjiedul Al-Jamaa'ah ), formally petition the current management committee to immediately step down
and facilitate a peaceful, structured handover of all operational, financial, and administrative duties to the mandated Interim Committee.
GROUNDS FOR PETITION
1. Lack of Financial & Administrative Transparency
2. Failure to publish audited or itemized financial reports to the general body.
3. Unclear decision-making processes regarding community assets, funds, and maintenance projects.
4. Overdue Elections & Term Expiration
5. The current committee has served beyond its constitutional term limit (3 Years) without holding open,
democratic elections. as well as preventing the community from doing so (currently serving 6 years).
6. Failure to maintain an updated, accessible membership register for the community.
7. A persistent breakdown in open communication, consultation, and responsiveness to congregational
feedback, causing Loss of Community Trust & Misalignment of Values.
8. Decisions being made without community consent, leading to unnecessary divisions within the community
Sherwood Park & Manenberg.
9. The current committee does not recognize the current constitution, by which they were elected, and wants to recreate and implement and entirely new constitution that suits their needs and wants, which goes against all standard operating procedures.
DEMANDS
- Immediate Cessation of Non-Essential Operations: The current committee must halt all non-routine
financial transactions, long-term contracts, and structural changes to the mosque assets.
This petition will close Sunday 13 September 2026 at 09h00.
