PETITION CONTENTS
To the Honourable the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, in Legislature Assembled: ·
- Whereas access to diverse theological education enriches the cultural and academic landscape of British Columbia;
- Whereas there is a need for independent, religiously-affiliated post-secondary institutions to operate freely in accordance with the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, particularly Section 2(a) guaranteeing freedom of religion;
- Whereas Rev the Nations School of Theology is envisioned as an online, post-secondary theological institution offering certificates, Bachelor of Theology, and Bachelor of Divinity degrees, with a commitment to academic excellence and respect for constitutional protections;
- Whereas Rev the Nations School of Theology will operate independently from the Ministry of Education's secondary school regulations and will enhance educational options without seeking public funding or licensing under the Private Training Act;
- Whereas the establishment of Rev the Nations School of Theology by a Private Act will ensure its religious freedom, academic integrity, and compliance with legal standards;
Your petitioners respectfully request that the Honourable House enact legislation recognizing Rev the Nations School of Theology as a religious post-secondary institution authorized to confer theological degrees, thereby supporting diversity, religious freedom, and educational innovation within British Columbia.
