PETITION FOR IMPROVED HEALTHCARE IN EKURHULENI
We, the residents of Ekurhuleni, urge the City to take urgent action to improve healthcare services in our clinics. The following issues critically impact our access to quality care: (1) Staff shortages affecting service delivery; (2); Medication shortages compromising treatment (3); Inefficient filing systems hindering patient care (4); Lack of specialized equipment limiting healthcare capabilities; (5) Temporary closures due to break-ins disrupting services, and; (6) Deterioration of facilities due to inadequate maintenance.
We call on the MMC of Community Services, Bridget Thusi, and the Executive Mayor Alderman Nkosindiphile Xhakaza to develop and implement a plan to address these issues promptly, in line with the "#Batho Pele" principle of putting people first. This plan should include: (1) Strategies to address staffing and medication shortages; (2) Improvements to filing systems and clinic management; (3) Allocation of resources for equipment and maintenance and, (4) Enhanced security measures to prevent break-ins. We request a detailed plan with timelines for implementation to improve healthcare services in Ekurhuleni.
