“Petition for Fairness and Accountability: Revoking Unjust Attendance Practices at PDEU SLS”
Petition Title:
“Petition for Fairness and Accountability: Revoking Unjust Attendance Practices at PDEU SLS”
Petition Text:
We, the students of Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), School of Liberal Studies (SLS), are demanding immediate action to address the biased and unfair implementation of attendance policies that have severely impacted the academic integrity and mental well-being of students.
Recently, the administration at PDEU SLS released a debarred list just one day before exams, barring students from appearing for exams due to attendance issues. However, this list was not only released in an extremely unjust and last-minute manner but was also plagued with favoritism. Faculty members have manipulated attendance records, unfairly raising attendance for certain students while others with similar or even lower attendance have been denied the same privileges. This favoritism and selective enforcement of the attendance policy is unacceptable and undermines the values of fairness and equality in education.
Why Should You Sign This Petition?
1.To Demand Fairness in Attendance Enforcement:
The UGC mandates 80% attendance for eligibility to sit in exams. This rule should be applied uniformly to all students, without any bias or favoritism. No student should be given special treatment based on connections or favoritism.
2.To End Faculty Favoritism:
Several faculty members have raised attendance for select students unfairly, including:
•Tejas Dave (48 students),
•Dr. Sri Ram Divi (33 students),
•Dr. Sanjay Pradhan (38 students),
•Dr. Sandesh Mahajan (70 students),
•Dr. Neeta Sinha (58 students),
•Dr. Nauseen Nizami (37 students).
These actions have caused a division between students, with those who had similar or even worse attendance than the favored ones being left out. This is not just an administrative failure—it is an injustice that must be addressed.
3.To Protect Mental Health:
The arbitrary debarment, especially with such a last-minute announcement, has created significant mental stress and anxiety among students. Such decisions have severe consequences on students’ mental health and their academic future. We deserve an administration that values our well-being and acts transparently.
4.To Hold the Administration and Faculty Accountable:
It’s time that the administration and faculty responsible for these actions are held accountable for undermining fairness, transparency, and students’ rights. We demand that those involved in manipulating attendance be investigated and that such practices be prohibited in the future.
5.To Ensure Future Justice for All Students:
By signing this petition, you are taking a stand for all students who have faced unfair treatment. We are demanding the immediate revocation of the current debarred list and the enforcement of UGC’s attendance rules properly and without bias moving forward.
We, the students, have the right to a fair academic environment. By signing this petition, we unite to demand that the administration, faculty, and authorities of PDEU SLS act in a manner that upholds justice, equality, and respect for all students.
Enough is enough—let’s make our voices heard!
Sign the petition and be part of the movement for fairness and accountability at PDEU SLS.
