Keep examination venues accessible for Giyani students
Students in Giyani are being placed in a difficult position by the current examination venue arrangement, which requires travel to Letaba for morning sessions. Many of us live in residences that do not provide transport, and the distance makes it hard to get there on time and in safe, workable conditions.
This is not a small inconvenience. When students have to travel far before an early exam, they face stress, extra costs, tiredness, and the risk of arriving late or missing the paper entirely. For students without private transport, the burden is even heavier, and it can affect results through no fault of their own.
If nothing changes, some students may be forced to choose between attendance and practicality, and that is not fair in an examination process. A venue that is too far from where students live creates an avoidable barrier, especially for those in residence who have no transport support.
We are asking the responsible institution to review the Giyani examination venue immediately and decide, before the next exam session begins, to either move the venue to Giyani or provide transport for all affected students from the residences to Letaba and back. This decision should be confirmed in writing so students know what to prepare for without confusion.
Students should not be placed at a disadvantage because of avoidable travel arrangements. A practical, accessible exam venue protects attendance, reduces stress, and gives every student a fair chance to focus on the paper rather than the journey.
