IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED TO ADDRESS LAWLESSNESS AT "THE STRIP" LYNNWOOD ROAD, MENLO PARK TSHWANE

Petition: Immediate Action Required to Address Lawlessness at "The Strip", Lynnwood Road, Menlo Park

We, the undersigned residents of Tshwane, call on the South African Police Service (SAPS), the City of Tshwane (CoT), and the Gauteng Liquor Board to take urgent and decisive action against the ongoing illegal activities at the area known as “The Strip” on Lynnwood Road, Menlo Park.

For years, residents have endured the consequences of:

- Illegal sale and consumption of alcohol

- Excessive noise disturbances

- Illegal land use and zoning violations

- Criminal and antisocial behaviour

Despite multiple petitions submitted, public meetings held, and repeated commitments from officials, including the Provincial Commissioner, District Commissioner Thine, Brooklyn SAPS, and MMC Hannes Coetzee (both in his roles as MMC for Economic Development and Spatial Planning, and now as MMC for Safety and Security), no meaningful enforcement or intervention has taken place.

We demand that the relevant authorities immediately:

1. Enforce by-laws and close all unlicensed liquor outlets

2. Clamp down on noise and public nuisance violations

3. Investigate and halt unlawful land use

4. Ensure visible and consistent policing in the area.

The ongoing inaction is unacceptable. We expect the rule of law to be upheld in all communities, Menlo Park, Tshwane, is no exception.
