The more caring, compassionate people in our society the BETTER. This man deserves encouragement, not incarceration.

It is illegal to stop anyone feeding wild birds. Simply and convienently forgotton it seems when councils and such make illegal by - laws.
Of course he hasn't the money to challenge this in the high courts.

He should'nt be in prision, But he was given plenty of chance's with the Asbo's. It's not an offence to feed pigeon's But it is an offence to Breach your Asbo. He Breached 10.

Sending a pensioner to jail for feeding hungry pigeons is disgraceful, especially when its Morecambe and there is dozens of druggies they could be catching instead.

Is there any sense of justice left in the world ?

Morecambe is covered in litter, dog mess, used needles, yet a man is jailed for feeding birds? Where's the sense in that?

Absolutely horrible behaviour, this man isn't a criminal!

A harmless guy just with a loving nature

This situation is absolutely diabolical. Abusers of the elderly get less time than this. Drug dealers get away with a fine. Theives get as boys. .....why has this man having to serve a sentence for feeding birds. Disgraceful. What a waste of tax payers money.

I think this is disgtusting that an old man is being jailed when real criminals are roaming free.

Absolutely utterly disgraceful that an honest elderly man who had not mudered/robbed/attacked young children etc etc, should be jailed for feeding birds! Birds that have every right to live and be fed! No wonder our justice system is a joke, the powers that be let REAL criminals walk the streets creating crime, murder and mayhem as and when the feel like it, whilst the innocent are incarcerated for feeding birds!! Beyond pathetic!! Free this poor man and put away REAL criminals!!

Obviously, there aren't enough criminals around to fill up the prisons.

He breached the terms of his ASBO. He deserves to be in prison. Best to comment here rather than on the very biast Facebook page. Where you get shouted at for having an opinion. It's pathetic really. And if everyone is going to do what they claim. And do a mass feed at the battery on Saturday. I hope the police are out in full force. Pigeons are vermin. And their feces is worse! Keep him in prison.

Such a waste of tax payers money. Why is caring about birds a crime? And feeding them? REAL criminals should be in prison NOT caring man who loves pigeons!

I have an ex racer pigeon as a pet and I can assure you they are not vermin!! He is clean and intelligent and become a loved member of the family! Pigeons were around on this earth long before humans were! We've invaded their space! If anything Humans are the vermin.We spread more rubbish and disease than any pigeon!

 

It's about time this country got its priorities right. If this man had jumped on the birds or kicked them to death, he'd get a slap on the wrist and a petty fine. There are too many animal haters in positions of power. Time to change things in a big way.

Jailing someone for compassion is morally wrong! Sanctimonious authorities!

I always find it amazing that people are happy to show how uneducated they are on a public forumn! Until the introduction of the pest control industry, pigeons were not considered vermin! Indeed they were highly regarded and saved hundreds of lives during the World Wars! Incidentally humans transmit more diseases than pigeons, as does the humble domestic cat and dog! Furthermore, the streets, shop doorways, building corners are not public urinials but that doesn't stop scum that call themselves human from peeing in the street leaving behind the acrid stench of urine and lord alone what diseases!

utterly unbelievable, that an elderly harmless, man can be jailed for showing compassion to animals, and animal abusers of the worst sort, defy the courts,and are allowed to walk free.

It's ridiculous that I even have to sign this petition for John.. I've never witnessed such injustice!! So many hideous crimes go unnoticed & this dear man is locked in a cell for his love of nature...I simply despair & have no faith in the judicial system ..

Please provide evidences for the above. I have never heard that the pigeons feeders catches any disease from the pigeons. In contrast, I heard that many people catch illness from the 2nd hand smoke.
