being saying this for years ;yet the worst offenders are the BBC always say POTATO FAMINE ;I don't mind if is called the GREAT famine as it was famine even if was caused by Trevelyn and british government ;even access to wild life was denied ;rabbits wild fowl etc was deemed property of Landlords and even trying to access water wells on their land was seen as trespass .since 1500s we were demonised by the powers that be in Britain and the general population in Britain believe us to be inferior beings .some of the less informed in Britain still hold this to this belief

Those that deny this was a Holocaust, doesn't know History.

This programme should never see the light of day, absolute disgrace. It outrageous that people should profit from tragedy.

Its an absolute disgrace and insult to my ancestors and fellow Irish men history language used refer to this tragic time in Ireland.we the Irish through our custom handing stories from one generation to the next know all to well the truth..shame on England.now they want make comedy regarding this add insult to injury..not in my name will my people be insulted any more.so.muxh for resoect..!!!!!

How can channel 4 make a comedy about people dying from hunger!! I wonder It's the same old retohric Irish are an easy target and the butt of all jokes in this country.

The famine was a genocide intentionally carried out to kill people and displace them.

I am totally against the airing of this comedy and feel it to be disrespectful and degrading to the people who suffered during the Famine. I respectfully ask that it is not aired on Television.

I,ve always thought of it as Genocide, when your exporting vast quantities of Beef and Grain while millions of People are starving, its Murder plain and simple.

Diminishing the impact of politically holocausts and great hungers, makes the likely to happen again.

This was not a Famine per se. It was a potato blight. Three time the amount of food needed to feed the Irish Nation was being exported at gunpoint resulting in a Holocaust. One million dead is a very low estimate. And the Brits wonder why they are not liked !!!

the famine was not funny and can never be funny it was a serious and sad thing that happened in my country britian brought this to my country and killed many of thousands causing us to leave our country. if this can be turned into a commedy then so can manchester bombings ect.... this is an assult on the irish by the british media.

The decsendents of the survivors deserve piblic acknowledgement of the suffering. Hiding English guilt behind media labels does no justice to those who died

This Seriies should be shelved as it is offensive to many both in Irlend and elsewhere!
