Due to the increased number of burglaries and vandalism in the town the streetlights should be reinstated as a preventative measure and a deterant to potential burglars.
The people of Halstead would feel much safer and secure in their homes.
Halsteads a nice town. Surely security of the community is more important than than the cost of the lighting. I haven't seen a reduction in my council tax since the street lights have been off??

The increase in burglaries is frightening and the use of the street lights is critical! At least if hey we're on burglars may not feel so confident and we can see if anything suspicious is going on outside our homes rather than looking at complete darkness!

When I moved to Halstead many years ago it was a very nice friendly market town. Bit by bit over the years this friendly Town has lost so many of the facilities which made it such a pleasant place to live. Particularly having no police station or police presence in the town and street lights being off for part of the night, the effect has been a reluctance to socialise in the town knowing the journey home could be in pitch darkness. The recent spate of burglaries in the town, taking place during the hours when the street lights are off indicate the need for a reconsideration of this policy.

I used to live in Halstead and my family and friends live here. I am concerned about the increase in crime recently and it also doesn't feel safe walking anywhere after midnight.

Crime ie burglaries increasing drastically! In Halstead the community is getting scared in their homes. Lights need to be on at night!

Due to lots of burglaries locally and also as I don't think it's right as it makes you feel insecure, people will drive after a night out to get home as the lights are out

To discourage crimes that can be committed under cover of complete darkness & to help ensure peoples confidence that safety comes first always.....

We MUST have our street lights put back on to deter the burglars,so that people can sleep peacefully in their homes..... is that too much to ask????

Too many break ins, could make a difference to have lights on during the hours of darkness.

The police station closes, police cover becomes stretched and surprise surprise, crime increases, especially burglaries at night.
