Simply put. If you dont like the rewards don't gem. Save them for the next time.
Don't bitch and moan on twitter/facebook/forums how crappy rewards and events are, and then spend massive amount of gems to finish events in less than 2 days. That's your fault.
And what do you think is killing EK? Lack of new players.
So while you may feel a card is useless lower level players may not.
