Our High Street and Green are no longer feeling safe places to be and the cases of abuse, street drinking, indecent exposure and anti-social behaviour are rising at an alarming rate

The Wanstead P.O.P.S (Protect Our Public Spaces) Campaign is petitioning Redbridge Council and the Metropolitan Police for the adoption of a PSPO (Public Space Protection Order) to clamp down on street drinking and anti-social behaviour.

We don't want incidents of a man exposing himself to a six year old child in the public toilets on Woodbine Place. We don''t want incidents like these on our High Street & Green:

"Witnessed a couple 'copulating' in the telephone box at the end of Woodbine Place/High St on Friday evening. Walked past with a friend and our toddlers - her little girl peered at the phone box for him to shout 'f-off, we're sh@gging'"

"Christ Church Green seems to be attracting more people with substance misuse issues: saw three separate ambulance crew/rapid responders on scene at various points during the 24hrs from Thurs eve to Fri eve"

"We got back from holiday last night & our first stop was Tesco; outside, a man and a woman lying on the pavement wearing each other's clothes, shouting & swearing at each other and very clearly drunk or drugged up or possibly both"

"I have noticed the black guy who begs outside Tesco has started hanging around with a guy with a limp. He shouted something sexual to my partner last week when she was pushing our one year old daughter in her buggy past Boots. My partner has also seen the guy leer at young girls on the High Street and point them out. The black guy has been getting drunk of late and has started giving me dirty / aggressive looks. Please can this situation be taken seriously before something happens"

"My son was followed by a man walking with a limp. The man came out of Roding Park on Onslow Gardens as my son walked past and then the man walked faster and gradually started running as my son started to run. He was shouting at my son that he was a 'faggot' and telling him to come here"

"I have just walked the High Street and there was a youngish girl with a man with grey hair and both of them wearing scruffy clothes. Totally drunk and being sick. The girls jeans were falling down showing her bottom"

"I walked three school girls up Wanstead High Street a few weeks ago because they were scared of a man acting strangely. He was shouting and swearing and threw a half empty can at a couple stood at the traffic lights waiting to cross"

"Last night around 6pm a man with a shaven head and walking with a slight limp followed my 14 year old daughter and her friend along Wanstead High Street. He then approached them asking if he could walk with them and asked as to where they lived. The girls became afraid and sought help in Zoology hairdressers. The man followed them there from Tesco, he did not go in but tapped on the window and put his middle finger up at them"

Join us in signing our petition for a PSPO on Wanstead High Street and surrounding roads.

It's time to stop our children having to experience such bullying.

It's time to act and reclaim our High Street from such behaviour.

It's time to PROTECT OUR PUBLIC SPACES
