STOP THE KILLING OF GREAT WHITE SHARKS IN NZ

HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO

It is not illegal to accidentally catch GWS but it should be released alive & unharmed. Reported to DOC & Ministry of Primary Industries as soon as possible. With technology these days I am sure that a month or two later is not as soon as possible. If the Shark is dead it should be landed for scientific research. This is not happening. Due to FEAR, miss information, a lot of emotion, sightings, encounters and media interviews all being held at the South Sea’s hotel The Great white sharks are in Danger. Information and or sightings 0800 DOC HOT sharks@doc.govt.nz Wednesday 16th April 2014 Samantha Hayes reported a story about a man who caught a GWS in a set net His words were “It was jiggling around quite a bit and I just did what I had to do to get it out of my net and I let it go and it wasn’t alive when I let it go” The GWS disappeared for four weeks after this killing. 29th January 2016 Eleanor Roy reported a story it’s like Jaws. The story starts at the South Sea’s hotel. Shortly after Eleanor’s visit The GWS disappear again. We will get a report a month or two later of a great white shark caught and killed but not landed. I asked my mum why can’t, DOC do anything she said because they don’t have the resources and they are under staffed. You might think stop shark cage diving that will solve it but will it and the cage diving operations worldwide have gathered valuable information we will need to co-excess with the GWS. The people that see the great white shark as just a fish will not just stop hunting them after all their fathers and grandfathers got good money for jaws fins and the oil.

If it was a hector dolphin we would ban set-netting in the area.

If it was South Africa you would be prosecuted.

I would make the area a great white shark sanctuary.
