STOP WEELEY FIREWORKS! SAVE THE LIVESTOCK AND ANIMALS

Comments

#3403

Fireworks are too dangerous and not controlled enough.

Suzanne Henderson (London, 2020-10-21)

#3404

I care about the welfare of animals and it seems reasonable that the display could take place elsewhere

Rebecca Watkins-Wright (Cambridge , 2020-10-21)

#3420

Animals suffer dreadfully from fireworks. Many have lifelong repercussions from them - some even die from heart attacks.

We need to consider animals - fireworks are not necessary to have fun!

Fiona Campbell (Shepton Mallet, 2020-10-21)

#3421

This should not be allowed near live stock

Anna RandomMerry (essex, 2020-10-21)

#3422

This display will endanger the lives of the livestock in the adjacent field. It’s appalling that this is going ahead.

Nicola Antoniou (Billericay, Essex, 2020-10-21)

#3424

Having this right next door to a boarding kennel is just so stupid. Dogs being away from home is stressful enough but add in fireworks as well is so much more stressful. The owner of the kennels would more than likely have to close ,doors for a few days which would have a financial impact in what is already uncertain times. Then there is a livery behind the field with horses that are more than likely to cause themselves an injury. Why is it needed and why is it there with no consideration for the people that pay their rates to be there 24/7. Year the firework organiser gets 2 nights of making a profit then buggers off leaving the carnage they have created. It’s a nice idea but a better location could and should be sought.

Emma Wood (Thorpe Le Soken, 2020-10-21)

#3426

Animals suffer greatly through the use of fireworks and this site is not appropriate for a large display.

Polly Salter (Shipdham, 2020-10-21)

#3431

Fireworks cause untold misery to animals both domesticated and wild. They are particularly distressing to horses, dogs and their owners.

Nick Hodge (Cattistock , 2020-10-21)

#3432

I feel that it is time for these events to be properly run. We are no longer dealing with the fizz, bang, pop fireworks of old (which were bad enough) modern fireworks are more akin to pyrotechnics used in movies. We need regulations to ensure that only trained personnel handle fireworks in an appropriate area far from the elderly, PTSD sufferers, animals and so on.
Stay safe, stay well.
Kind regards
Steve

Steve Bailey (Cramlington , 2020-10-21)

#3433

I know just how distressing fireworks are to livestock and particularly horses. The stress alone could cause the pregnant mares to abort.

Sarah Read (Stoke-on-Trent, 2020-10-21)

#3440

We have to consider the stress that fireworks cause for so many animals. The vast amounts of money that the fireworks cost could be used in countless more productive ways.
Stop thinking of how much money you can make and think about all the sentient beings that will be so scared and be under so much stress.

Joanne Hemmings (Ruislip , 2020-10-21)

#3442

Fireworks cause such distress to animals

Katrina Beney (Great dunmow, 2020-10-21)

#3446

It’s irresponsible, when there are so many alternative sites, to host the event where it would cause so much distress to so many beings.

Laura Cook (Walsall, 2020-10-21)

#3447

People need to think of pets/wildlife/livestock and vulnerable people with PTSD!
This can have an awful affect on so many beings.

Emma Jackson (WINCHESTER, 2020-10-21)

#3448

How can there be firework displays when covid restrictions only allow gatherings of 6 people!?

Robert Tucker (PINNER, 2020-10-21)

#3453

I’m signing because there is a kennels next door to the site and numerous fields with livestock. I personally know of one mare who is pregnant. This should not go ahead.

Tamsyn Curry (Little Clacton, 2020-10-21)

#3454

Animal welfare is more important than a firework display,
And should it even be happening this year anyway ?

Emma Hardman (Walton on the naze , 2020-10-21)

#3455

FOR THE SAKE OF THE ANIMALS

SHARON LUKEY (DORKING, 2020-10-21)

#3457

This type of thing needs to be banned by law! Selfish enjoyment at the expense of fear and damage both to wildlife and the old and vulnerable!

Christine Crowley (Cannock , 2020-10-21)

#3458

Nobody needs a firework display let alone near animals

Jill Didymus (Plymouth, 2020-10-21)

#3462

I'm signing because I have several pets who become very distressed. Also each year there are accidents to people lightening these fireworks. Leave the displays to professionals please.

Barbara Cates (London, 2020-10-21)

#3463

It’s appalling that this event is going to take place, even if it was registered by council and police. The police should intervene and stop it

Elaine Tildesley (Halesowen , 2020-10-21)

#3465

This is not a good idea, the damage to the welfare of local wildlife, horse s and domestic pets will be horrific. Please have consideration for them.

Maria Johnson (Colchester, 2020-10-21)

#3472

Fireworks cause a lot of creatures anxiety, stress and awful fear. It can cause untold damage to them, all for what? So we can stand and say ohhh and ahhh. Nothing to show for it. Having dogs,
I can tell you that if you saw the absolute fear, shaking and the terror in animals faces you would understand. These should be cancelled Now.

Jeanette Duffey (Sittingbourne , 2020-10-21)

#3474

Signing this as I care about protecting animals

Elizabeth Delaney (Mountain Top, 2020-10-21)

#3482

I’m for organised events in parks or recreational grounds but not u organised chaos

Cathy Morgan-Gilmour (London, 2020-10-21)

#3497

Fireworks pollute, add to global warming, leave behind rubbish and worst of all terrify wildlife and domestic creatures alike.

Jan Howe (Alton, 2020-10-21)

#3498

Fireworks are a constant nuisance and are dangerous and are a constant disturbance. They cause distress to many animals and wildlife, they are explosives in the hands of mostly fools!

Lynette Timmins (Cannock , 2020-10-21)

#3502

I have a dog who is frightened of the fireworks

Jackie Bennett (Bristol, 2020-10-21)

#3506

I am against fireworks because of how they affect animals

Joyce Barker (Durham, 2020-10-21)

#3507

Fireworks are environmentally polluting and distress animals.

Barbara Bolton (Burnham, 2020-10-21)

#3509

We should re-think the things we like that affect others, such as the noise, distress and pollution that fireworks cause. We should try to be less selfish and show more compassion for others.

Zyanya Flores (London, 2020-10-21)

#3511

Fireworks should only be well away from any animals whether in houses, fields or shelters..

Patricia Grandy (Conwy , 2020-10-21)

#3512

I have cats and they are terrified of fireworks.

Rosemary Empson (Shrewsbury , 2020-10-21)

#3526

I support this petition because of the demonstrable harm that fireworks cause to wild and domestic animals. I know; I have seen my own dog traumatised by fireworks for years. Fireworks in Britain were to celebrate the saviour of our seat of democracy - Parliament.
It's now time that Parliament acted to stop what has become an abuse of fireworks, the loss of their meaning in British history and culture, and a plague upon wild and domestic animals, including farm animals which are peoples' livelihoods.
And not only animals. Many who suffer from PTSD either from combat experiences or other events are distressed beyond imagination by the continual use and mis-use of fireworks.
The fireworks industry can be better employed making fireworks that are visually attractive without creating a bang rather than ones which carry and increasingly louder bangs.
It's time to regain control and s sense of proportion.

Coinneach Duncan (Telford, 2020-10-21)

#3533

I care about the wildlife and surrounding farm animals who will be terrified by this display.

Gill Holloway (Great Yarmouth, 2020-10-21)

#3534

Fireworks are another polution on the earth and totally unnecessary

Dilys McGuire (Rochester, 2020-10-21)

#3537

Too near to an equine yard

Sara Cole (Clacton on sea , 2020-10-21)

#3540

Innocent animals are suffering heart attacks and suffering tremendous amounts of stress due to the noise of these pointless fireworks. Why would anyone appreciate money going up in smoke anyway. LUDICROUS. !!

Eve Hurst (London , 2020-10-21)

#3542

I care about the safety and welfare of animals.

Philippa Betts (Derbyshire, 2020-10-21)

#3544

I think, when there is a perfectly acceptable alternative to noisy fireworks, viz. silent ones, that letting off the former within earshot of anyone, whether the are vulnerable humans, domestic or wild animals, or livestock, is an act of utter selfishness. I suggest that silent fireworks are used. It is not difficult to obtain them.

Sarah Moore (South Zeal Okehampton, 2020-10-21)

#3545

I disagree with firework displays near know animals and livestock. They don't know what's happening so therefore are put through absolute terror.

Justine Burgess (Suffolk, 2020-10-21)

#3550

Because its not right so near to the animals.

Esther Holdcroft (West Midlands, 2020-10-21)

#3551

Fireworks should be kept well away from animals

Stephanie Stanley (london, 2020-10-21)

#3553

My cat gets so scared with fireworks and she is indoors. I can’t imagine what those poor animals in the fields around would be put through.

Jacki Hall (Little Clacton, 2020-10-21)

#3555

Too much distress will be caused to nearby animals and people.

Julia WINN (Tonbridge, 2020-10-21)

#3557

Loud Fireworks are frightening for farm animals, pets, wildlife, and young children and should be confined to oorganised displays on one night only.

Linda Bennett (Tatsfield, 2020-10-21)

#3559

There should not be a firework event, close to a location where many animals are. Most animals are traumatised with loud bangs. I believe there are pregnant mares at a local stable, how inappropriate A firework display over two nights.

Janice Arden (Rochdale, 2020-10-21)

#3560

Total lack of consideration for other people and animals.
Local police should get involved. This is the danger of unsupervised and unlicensed displays.

susan cox (Highland , 2020-10-21)

#3561

Im signing because I don't want animals terrified by fireworks

Lesley-Ann Haggart (Edinburgh , 2020-10-21)

#3565

My kind and beautiful black thoroughbred mare was frightened by fireworks into a fence where she lay trapped overnight and w couldn't save her. I think fireworks are fine without the bangs but there definitely shouldn't be a display near stables.

Nuala Young (Oxford, 2020-10-21)

#3571

This event would terrify the wildlife close to it .
There are plenty more venues in the area that can safely accommodate this event that are not close to wildlife zones.

William Rigby (Crewe, 2020-10-21)

#3572

If these events really need to go ahead then they MUST BE MOVED to a location which isn't near to farms or stables! This is totally irresponsible and ignorant of whoever has organised this. Please change the venue now - or cancel it completely. Fireworks are a waste of money which should be spent more wisely - especially in COVID times.

sue musk (Cambridge, 2020-10-21)

#3576

Please relocate this event and think of the elderly and all the animals the said event will frighten and maybe end in serious injuries
Thank you

elayn crossley (BRADFORD, 2020-10-21)

#3584

I'm an animal lover and, due to the damage fireworks do to animals' and PTSD sufferers mental health, personally, I think fireworks should be totally banned

Alexandra Gibson (CARLUKE, 2020-10-21)

#3586

I care about the distress this causes to animals

Sheenagh Hennessey (Ripley , 2020-10-21)

#3598

I know SO many animals who suffer at this time of year. Even small children are frightened. Why are we torturing our pets and our children?

Helen Kimball-Brooke (London W5 2DJ, 2020-10-21)

#3599

This event will cause un-necessary suffering to other humans and animals for no reason. It can be re-sited elsewhere where it will not interfere and therefore I am objecting.

Ruth Penny (Nafferton, 2020-10-21)

#3600

Fireworks are dangerous and cause needless upset and anxiety to people and animals
