I'm signing this petition because I don't agree with the Tertiary Institution,Damelin, being operated in a Residential area. There are no recreational area or space to build one for the studends, so they make use of the resident's yards, parks and streets to sit and walk around. They play loud Music, smoke Dagga.
The ablution facilities are not sufficient for a big Tertiary Institution like Damelin.
The students are sitting on our lawn and urinate against our garden wall and palesade fence.
When my kids (girls) walk from school, the students make inappropriate comments. My kids don't feel safe at all anymore, and I fear for their safety.
I am a working mom and cant get my kids from school. We bought the house for the benefit of children walking back from school in the afternoon.
We felt even more safe after the closure of our area, but now it doesnt mean anything with students who are high on Dagga and drugs.
Its not safe to have a Tertiary Institution so close to a Primary school, and bring in many risks for our Primary school kids, being offered Drugs or even verbal sexual insults and abuse
I question the rights Damelin have to operate a Student facility in a Residential suburb. There was no community involvement or poll to get authorization for a Tertiary Institution to be run in a Residential area.
