We seek ways to assure the continuation of the imperiled Summer Institute of Contemporary Performance Practice (SICPP)

SICPP is a treasured educational tool for young musicians who wish to create new music and share it with others. NEC has long established its roots in the music of the past. It would be greatly endangering its position as an innovative music institution by choosing to halt its support of this wonderful program at the same time that other top tier establishments are expanding their interests in new music. The work Steve Drury and the rest of the faculty do through this program cannot be replaced, and countless musical journeys would be affected with the loss of this cherished event. It would pain many to see NEC lose this essential program.

SICPP is an incredibly dynamic program that brings together musicians across the generations to perform and collaborate and delve completely into the rich music of our time. I am beyond sad that NEC (I'm an alum) is abandoning their support for this superb program that always brings new talent and interest from the greater world of music to NEC.
