#2606

I believe that the council needs to live up to its own mantra of "Support Local".

Roxanne Ng (Gisborne, 2023-06-18)

#2607

Learn to Swim is a life skill and not a saleable commodity for overseas based corporates to make profits off our children needing this skill for life!!! Leave the provision of LTS to the locals.

Lin Tozer (Palmerston North , 2023-06-18)

#2613

My children have been with comet and have done very well, It would be devastating to see it gone.

Sue McGregor (Gisborne , 2023-06-19)

#2615

Comet is a local and community centric initiative that deserves the support of our unitary authority.

Jared Johnstone (Gisborne , 2023-06-19)

#2616

Comet has served the community well. Recently, they worked hard to keep instruction going after the cyclone with the water restrictions. This was such a welcome relief to our kids.

Jake MacArthur (Gisborne, 2023-06-19)

#2618

All my children learnt to swim with Comet. They are a local icon and we should be supporting local.

Jess Rolls (Gisborne, 2023-06-19)

#2619

Supporting locals to stay local. Communities are unique, and locals need to be in control of local businesses to keep the revenue in the local area.

Toni Hayes (Te Kauwhata, 2023-06-20)

#2621

It’s unfair to remove a contract for a perfectly good local group and hand it over to an international group. This will make swimming lessons because much less caring and helpful for those learning.

Lexie Bell (Ashburton, 2023-06-20)

#2622

I support Comet swimming

Sarah Hawkes (Gisborne, 2023-06-20)

#2625

We need to look after our local community

Mary Walker (Gisborne , 2023-06-20)

#2628

Comet has supported me and my family in all their learning to swim aspects of life. It is a marvelous local organization and it is my pleasure to now support them.

Samantha Hill (Gisborne , 2023-06-20)

#2629

The Gisborne council is out of order for this

Reuben Corbett (Bristol, 2023-06-20)

#2630

I believe Comet can deliver local instruction for local kids and should be given the opportunity.

Alison Beaufoy (Gisborne, 2023-06-20)

#2631

I support local, just as GDC should be.

Hannah Peez (Gisborne, 2023-06-20)

#2636

I want the council select a LOCAL swimming club that has been supporting LOCAL people of Tairawhiti, not an overseas company!

Cassandra Harvey (Gisborne, 2023-06-21)

#2637

The council should be supporting local clubs and businesses. To take this off the club is appalling.

Kathie Hunt (Gisborne, 2023-06-21)

Cheyanne Te Maro (Waipiro Bay, 2023-06-21)

#2646

Comet do an awesome job. Our 3 girls leant to swim with Comet. They are local people giving an awesome local service. Why would you ever consider taking that away from our community. Are we to sell everything off?

Sophia Arthur (Gisborne, 2023-06-21)

#2647

We must support local

Robyn McLean (Gisborne, 2023-06-21)

#2648

I think it’s disgusting that they have taken an outside company when we have good local companies available to provide a service

Amy Roydhouse (Gisborne, 2023-06-21)

#2649

Learn to swim can not be a commercial operation in NZ!

Sarah Laurence (Palmerston North, 2023-06-21)

#2651

Comet swimming should stay local my children was taught to swim and they did a very good job. They have been going very successfully for many years. It should not be allowed to be taken over intentionally.

Carole Glassford (Gisborne , 2023-06-21)

#2652

Comet deserves to keep the contract that they have successfully held for many years. They are local for local.

Holly Tong (Gisborne , 2023-06-22)

#2654

Local it should go to local. I pay rates and I would like the Contract to definitely go to Comet. I live in Horoera, Te Araroa, 2.5 hour away and Comet helped my 4 kids to learn to swim. Starting 20 years ago. Every Agency goes on about supporting local. GDC probably goes on about supporting local well we want to support local. COMET first.

Denise HOVELL (Te Araroa, 2023-06-22)

#2655

Comet swim club has a strong stable track record that has supported many families over 65 years andit has been proven before that overseas control is not necessary correct for local business. (think SSE). Local Knowledge and support of local businesses keep the money in this town

Bevan Moore (Gisborne, 2023-06-22)

#2656

Why have a foreign outfit run our swim club when there is a competent and experienced local one wanting to? Shame on you council!

Robyn Gardner (Gisborne , 2023-06-22)

#2657

A very poor decision made by our local G.D.C. Comet have dedicated swimming programmes for many, many years now & it's soul destroying to have an overseas outfit appointed. Please revoke your decision GDC.

Judy Taylor (GISBORNE, 2023-06-22)

#2658

Because I would rather see a long standing Gisborne club running the learn to swimm facility

Warrick R Ingoe (Gisborne, 2023-06-22)

#2661

I think it's disgraceful that Gisborne District Council choose an overseas company for the Learn To Swim Programme. How do you expect local businesses and clubs to survive if you do not support them. This should go to a local swim club. Support your community and the people in your community. The profits belong with the people of Tairawhiti not Australia.

Toni O'Dwyer (Brisbane, 2023-06-22)

#2662

Support local.

Gayle Newband (Gisborne, 2023-06-22)

#2663

I support local Tairawhiti,East Coast,Gisborne

Herbie williams (Gisborne, 2023-06-22)

#2664

We need to support the local comet swimming club who have offered superb service over many years and have offered their services again. It appears the person making the decision is not a true local who has not been arround for too long in Gisborne and does not know the history of service, the comet club has done and is capable of. Very bad decision and needs to be changed.

Darcy Edwards (Gisborne, 2023-06-22)

#2665

I've been to comet with our wee girl and both really enjoyed it. They do a wonderful job and deserve the opportunity.

Deanna Nisbett (Gisborne , 2023-06-22)

#2666

I support Comet

John Hunter (Bay of Islands, 2023-06-22)

#2667

The message Tairawhiti needs now more than ever is “shop local”. Comet is therefore the right choice. The reason the contract was not given to them was, in my opinion, a clever contract by the International company. I am sure comet could provide te reo training and 80 free lessons. They probably just didn’t think to include those in their contract application

Norma Miller (Gisborne , 2023-06-22)

#2668

We need to support local

Jenny Baty (Gisborne, 2023-06-22)

#2670

I feel we need to be supporting local businesses. Especially ones that have supported us and our tamariki for many, many years!

Meryl Carlyle (Gisborne , 2023-06-22)

#2671

Poor decision GDC.

Justine Robin (Gisborne , 2023-06-22)

#2673

I support Comet

Dianne Holland (Gisborne, 2023-06-22)

#2675

Comet is a longstanding local organisation (I learned to swim there 60 years ago). As a small isolated community we need to positively affirm loCal businesses and charities.

Lesley Hawkins (Gisborne , 2023-06-22)

#2678

I think Comet should get the contract.

William Brown (Gisborne, 2023-06-22)

#2679

The comet swimming club has been a part of our community for many decades and they deserve our support. The new pool does not cater to our local
Community & club as it should, but to the pockets of the GDC

Thelma Hale (Capalaba, 2023-06-23)

#2680

It's NOT okay for GDC to appoint an overseas company to run the Kiwa Pools Learn to Swim Programme.

Ray Taylor (Gisborne, 2023-06-23)

#2681

All my children learnt to swim with Comet it is amazing asset for our region and should be supported

Tara Hunt (Gisborne, 2023-06-23)

#2682

The bloody stupidity of the gisborne district council on awarding this to an overseas company

David Roberts (Gisborne, 2023-06-23)

#2684

Must we provide an explanation?
It’s common sense and the right thing to do for the numerous reasons already expressed by the people of Tairawhiti.
Kia Kaha Comet, we are with you💖

Leish Kemp (Gisborne, 2023-06-23)

#2687

NZ should support NZ business first - keep NZ for New Zealanders - support local first and always

Amanda Hacche (Tauranga , 2023-06-25)

#2688

I am signing because we need to support our local providers before anyone else. Money needs to stay in the district. Times are hard and flooding has not helped. This is a no brained.

Heather Besseling (Gisborne, 2023-06-25)

#2689

What the hell is the GDC doing, or more to the point NOT doing. Not listening to the constituents for a start and Gisborne community have spoken.
We you not elected to advocate for the
Gisborne people, obviously you are not listening to them !!
GET the Comet reinstated or STAND down GDC or who ever made that decision !!

Heneriata Campbell (Elgin, Gisborne, 2023-06-25)

#2690

GDC should stand with locals especially during the current times we are facing.

Aimee-Jean Rhind (Gisborne, 2023-06-25)

#2691

Why are we not supporting local..? when for many years they have supported our children

Yvonne Beaufoy (Gisborne, 2023-06-25)

#2694

My grandson is learning to swim through the Comet Swimming Club as I did as a child myself.
I strongly believe it should stay local.
Why fix it if it isn’t broke?
Why change when it’s working well.

Marion Hamilton (Feilding , 2023-06-29)

#2699

Retain Comet they have served us well

tui warmenhoven (Ruatoria, 2023-07-04)

#2700

In support of my employer, workmates and children I have had a pleasure to teach. Also for the community

Charlene Leach (Gisborne, 2023-07-04)

#2701

I believe Comet as a local swim club has more benefits for the community.

Josiah Ney (Tauranga, 2023-07-05)

#2702

Having been a Comets kid when I was a young fella this decision is a kick to the gut. Comet grads have saved so many lifes, come on GDC this is very poor, Gizzy folk don't treat each other like this.

Tauha Te Kani (Tauranga, 2023-07-05)
