Royal Pines Gate and Security Upgrade Petition
Royal Pines has long been marketed and sold as a gated and secure residential community.
As residents, we all want the same thing: to feel safe in our homes, to sleep comfortably at night, and to know that reasonable security measures are in place to protect our families, neighbours and property.
Unfortunately, over the approximately 12 years the residential precinct has been operating, the front gates have only been fully operational for a fraction of that time.
Recent incidents have highlighted the importance of finding a lasting solution.
Recent Incidents
Most recently, a single mother and her young son had their home broken into during the early hours of the morning and their car stolen.
The family is understandably traumatised, particularly knowing that several individuals entered their home while they were sleeping and stole their car keys from inside the property.
Our existing security cameras recorded individuals entering through the front gates at approximately 2:13am and leaving at approximately 3:14am. Additional footage from residents captured several individuals attempting to break into vehicles within the precinct during the same period.
Sadly, this is not an isolated incident.
In January 2025, another Royal Pines resident experienced a frightening home invasion involving knife-wielding offenders who entered the home while residents were sleeping upstairs and stole their vehicle.
There have also been repeated reports of break-ins, attempted vehicle theft and other criminal activity within Royal Pines every few months.
These incidents highlight an ongoing security concern within our community.
This is not simply about protecting property.
It is about the safety and peace of mind of everyone who lives in Royal Pines.
An Opportunity to Improve Our Security
We have received confirmation that Concourse Villas Body Corporate (CVBC) and Marina Residences Body Corporate (MRBC) are agreeable to proceeding with the upgrade and replacement of the existing security gate infrastructure as a matter of urgency.
The proposed upgrade would provide a more reliable and modern security system, with improved capability to identify vehicles, licence plates and individuals entering and leaving the community.
We understand that there are ongoing legal proceedings and differing views regarding the existing gate infrastructure.
At this stage, not all Body Corporates have agreed to proceed with the immediate proposed upgrade.
Rather than residents becoming involved in those existing disagreements, we believe there is a simple question that should be put to the entire Royal Pines community:
How important is improved security to you?
This petition gives residents an opportunity to answer that question.
A Safer Royal Pines for Everyone
Regardless of which Body Corporate we live under, we are all Royal Pines residents.
We share the same community, the same entrance and the same desire to keep our families and neighbours safe.
This petition is not intended to take sides in any existing Body Corporate or legal matter.
It is simply a request from residents that community safety be given appropriate priority and that all four Body Corporates work towards a practical solution for the benefit of the entire Royal Pines residential community.
We should not have to wait for another home invasion, vehicle theft or more serious incident before improvements are considered.
A functioning gate and effective security system cannot guarantee that crime will never occur. However, they can provide an additional layer of protection and improve our ability to identify vehicles and individuals entering and leaving the community.
Your Voice Will Be Heard
Once the petition is complete, it will be presented to all four Royal Pines Body Corporates.
The purpose is to demonstrate the level of community support for improved security and, importantly, to show the Body Corporates how highly residents prioritise the safety and security of our community.
We recognise that there are ongoing legal proceedings and other matters that may still need to be resolved. This petition does not seek to comment on, influence or determine those matters.
Instead, it gives residents an opportunity to clearly express their own priority:
We want to feel safe in our homes, and we want our community to have effective security.
Your signature will help demonstrate that this is not simply the concern of an individual resident or one Body Corporate.
It is a community-wide priority.
We all want to be able to sleep comfortably at night, knowing that reasonable steps are being taken to make Royal Pines safer.
