Restore Kid’s Open Play Space at Terranora

C Casey Mortimer · AU

The children in our community have recently lost their only open space for active play. A tall fence now surrounds Terranora Public School, a once vibrant area where children could play basketball, handball, soccer and spend time with friends outside of school hours. As local parents, we see our children deprived of this much-needed space and left with only two old swings at Windley Park.

Terranora is a very hilly area with limited flat open spaces, making Windley Park a rare and valuable large open space, perfect for activities like kicking a ball or playing games. However, the park is currently underutilized and lacks facilities that could support our growing community. Families in the area need a space where children can celebrate birthdays and hold outdoor events, as there are no suitable options outside of private homes.

We propose transforming Windley Park into a vibrant hub for children and families. With the addition of a playground, a small basketball court, and facilities like sheltered seating, the park could emulate the successful design of Recreation Ground Park. This upgrade would encourage outdoor play and sports, provide a space for community gatherings, and strengthen connections among residents.

Join us in asking Tweed Shire Council to renovate Windley Park with a playground, basketball court, and community-friendly facilities. By signing this petition, you are advocating for the health, happiness, and well-being of our children and families.XIiYyscnEZOMkTb-800x450-noPad.jpg
