Reduce HPCSA fees for Optometrists
Optometrists pay the highest annual HPCSA (Health Professionals Council Of South Africa) fees as compared to other primary practitioners, such as Physiotherapists and Speech Therapists. This has been consistent for a number of years.
Optometrists are asked to pay fees of R2470 (2020 rate), almost as much as General Practitioners (R2500 (2020 rate)) who have the title of 'Doctor' before their name, and are placed in a much higher income bracket as compared to Optometrists.
Our aim, as Optometrists practicing in South Africa, is to call on the HPCSA to comfortably reduce these exorbitant rates for Optometrists as our income as primary eyecare practitioners does not, in any way, match that of a General Practitioner, nor are we given the title of 'Doctor'.
If this petition is accepted and passed, Optometrists would be able to pay a comfortably reduced, appropriate amount as any primary medical professional should pay.
However, if this petition is not accepted, Optometrists will continue to feel abused by the controversially ineffective healthcare system set in place in our country.
Join me, and share this link with your fellow optometrists.
Our concerns need to be ADDRESSED
Our eyecare professionals need to be RESPECTED
Our time to act is NOW
