Mercede's Place bar, a neighborhood, corner bar operated by Mercedes Gibson, has been the location of 3 documented violent crimes since it reopened after Hurricane Katrina. Three shootings have taken place in or within
a block of the location. It is believed that bar clientele participate in activities which associate Mercede's Place with
the ordinances defining the business as a nuisance. Because these activities result in violent crime, the bar is no longer an asset to the community.
