Installation of Wire rope safety barriers

We are asking for support again with a second petition to reconsider the decision to not install Wire rope safety barriers along the Portarlington Road side of Kidscape Early Learning Centre Leopold.

We have raised concerns previously regarding the safety of this intersection, however I believe the matter urgently requires reconsideration. There have been numerous car accidents at this location, particularly involving vehicles travelling down the hill along Portarlington Road at speeds of 80km/h and colliding with cars exiting Kensington Road.  This pattern of incidents is extremely concerning for our local community, and especially for our service, which cares for young children daily.

We respectfully request that the decision not to install wire rope safety barriers along this section of road be urgently reconsidered. Based on research into wire rope safety barriers, the safety benefits clearly outweigh the disadvantages. Such infrastructure would significantly reduce the likelihood of vehicles crossing into oncoming traffic or roadside areas, improving safety for motorists, pedestrians and our service community.

Please help us.
