Saanich Council should have never had the authority to pass such a bylaw without serious consultation with Tax payers and other parties that would have provided invaluable information. Setting lands aside with no intent to maintain (such as some of the existing parks) generates eyesores, fire hazards and a breeding ground for the already existing invasive species to flourish. In general people who own properties in Saanich respect the environment and manage quite nicely without this overbearing bylaw. Identifying properties that meet the definition of "sensitive" should be saved, paid for and managed for future use by the community as a whole for all to enjoy.
