I am a dog lover. However, common sense should prevail in such cases as these. Just because a particular dog has certain "pit bull" aspects does not mean the animal has aggressive tendencies. Witness evidence of past behaviour must also be taken into consideration before an arbitrary decision is made to condemn an animal to death. Those involved in the wrongful decision to put this dog down should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves!

It's clear that Teddy has been bought up in a loving and caring family environment. No dog should be put down just because he looks like a breed that 'might' do harm. I've known pitbull terriers who have been raised correctly and they are wonderful well adjusted members of their families.

This healthy Dog should not be put to sleep, give him back to his family. He has done nothing wrong.He is much loved by his family.

This is absolutely heartbreaking poor teddy please don't put teddy down let him go home to his family he has never harmed anyone no complaints made about him how can they sleep at night doing this to this little dog

Because with the vast, vast majority of dogs, safety is based upon the owner and the dodg's training.
The dangerous Dogs Act is a poorly conceived, ineffective and cruelly destructive knee-jerk piece of legislation that needs to be repealed or, at the very least, reviewed and rewritten. It does not save people from bad owners or their pets.

Clearly this family pet is not at fault, the stupid law is.

This is appalling and nonsensical. This dog has not put a foot wrong, and it must be up to his owners who know him best.
If he had ever hurt someone it would be different, but he has shown no aggression towards anyone and clearly adores the child and the rest of his family. Where is the justice and common sense?

Our dogs are family ,if they bite and injure it is our duty to put them down,but this gentle soul is loved and well looked after, he will be a good friend all his life to the little girl,why kill him?

I firmly believe that its nurture not nature that makes a bad dog, any dog can be bad if brought up wrong, but in a loving environment it will be a loving dog.

this is moraly wrong that poor family was being burgled and the dog would probably defend his family all dogs can be dangerous but brought up right they are fine ive been bitten by a family dog as a child and it certainly was not any type of pitbull, staff, ive been attacked by a shitzhu of all dogs its bullshit !!!

The 'Dangerous Dogs Act' is an incredibly insufficient and frankly idiotic law. I believe dog owners should be responsible for the safety of people who come into contact with their dog but for a dog to be put down for its head measurements of DNA is pathetic.
Many people have perfectly well trained and adjusted dogs who have bloodlines of banned breeds (the fastest law ever to be passed in the UK was the poorly constructed and policed Breed Specific Legislation law).
Please remember it's DEED NOT BREED!

I hope to god he is saved! Poor dog has done nothing wrong, I grew up with a staff & he was soft as anything, my mum was once stopped by police when walking him. He had to be pts afew years ago & our family was devastated.
