Stop commercialization of our WILD areas!!
Guest#102 Jun 21, 2011, 16:20
What are the managers building the hotel think what about the animals? Are they gonna build a dump for them!?! That's just not fair! If anyone's reading this and they haven't signed the petition yet, please think about the animals because we have enough hotels!!! -An Animal lover!
Guest#103 Jun 21, 2011, 16:38
The so called black diamonds were never interested in the Park, what has changed? Let people who enjoy peace and quiet enjoy the park as is and let the ones who enjoy noise and whatever goes with it, go somewhere else. The park has been around in it's current form for ages and no one has complained about a lack of luxury before!!!!!

It's just the right thing to do, let's preserve :)

It's the right thing to do, let's preserve our reserves :)

The Kruger national park is a priceless resource. Building hotels etc will destroy the very reason for visiting, i.e. the wild life and therefore be self-defeating
Guest#107 Jun 21, 2011, 23:24
Have we not destroyed enough animal habitat without destroying more? If people want to see wild life, then let them travel to see it and not destroy more natural land with concrete monstrosities in the middle of the creatures living space. Mankind has a lot to answer for so a line has to be drawn somewhere. Good luck with your petiton from an old African hand.

LEAVE THE PARK ALONE! Build your hotels outside of the park wher you will not be destroying wildlife habitat and everybody wins.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

My most recent visit to KNP was a camping trip. We took most of our drinks with us. Allocation during winter was 3 cans of cold drink per person per day.
just an additional 240 people consuming the same amount = an additional amount of 720 cans which have to be "imported". The food requirements added to this will probably amount to not only the additional traffic of having additional people in the park, but how many more speeding trucks delivering the food and drink?

These truck drivers are not bound by the usual speed limits and from what I've seen, have scant regard for the higher speed limit of 60km per hour. The drivers give no thought to slowing down to pass where you might be sitting appreciating a special animal sighting.

The carbon footprint of the additional "tourists" and the added need for more deliveries will have a huge impact on the environment. That's just one additional "Bush lodge / hotel".

There are plans for 6.

Please copy this link and pass it on to all your contacts and get them to pass it on to theirs and so on. It is the only way to stop the madness.

hotels will spoil atmosphere of the park and make it a less attractive tourist venue. Traffic and more people visible will have a similar effect.
Guest#111 Jun 22, 2011, 13:36
its a sad sad day if this act comes to fruition!!
Guest#112 Jun 22, 2011, 16:05
The Kruger National Park is a Nature Reserve not a Holiday INN................................ Clown...........
Guest#113 Jun 22, 2011, 16:27
Thus we go down the drain
Guest#114 Jun 22, 2011, 16:34
Kruger is for animals, camping and rondavel's. If you want hotels go to Sun City
Anonymous#115 Jun 22, 2011, 16:50
All wonderful sentiments people. The way to stop this is to get as many signatures as possible. Send the link to your contacts. Have them send it to their contacts and those to their contacts. Get this momentum going and make a difference to nature conservation or reap the rewards of sitting idly by and watching as man continues to destroy the world he lives in. Beginning with the last of the nature conservation areas.

If we fail to stop this, we fail ourselves and future generations. It's not enough anymore to sit and complain. It's time for action.

Have seen the horrible effect "commercialisation" has had on the Central Kalahari in Botswana with the Lodge they built overlooking Tau Pan. Also believe another one is going up over Pipers Pan??? Kruger has had enough commercialisation - there are more than enough jeep jockies trundling through the park as it is. For heavens sake why can't they leave our wilderness areas as wild as possible without turning them into glorified theme parks.....Please God may this petition have some effect.
Guest#117 Jun 22, 2011, 18:50
Every 5 years I used to visit the Kruger Park but will no longer do so if hotels are build
Guest#118 Jun 22, 2011, 19:15

Anybody who would destroy a natural resource that really should be a UNESCO world heritage site must be a complete moran. Utilizing correct marketing and sustainable tourism SANpark could increase and play a viable and important role of saving not destroying a very sensitive ecosystem. But as usual, some idiots with a not so bright idea will insist on their decisions for personal gratification. Save Africa!!

Guest#119 Jun 22, 2011, 20:34
I grew up in Kruger, so would hate to see it go this way. These people are so narrow minded, and don't ever see the bigger picture, which is a sanctuary for wildlife. They only think of how much money they can make.Poppet Mockford.

Please make decisions that protect the Kruger Park for your Grand Children
Guest#121 Jun 23, 2011, 10:55
If South Africa bends more towards financial gain rather than respecting its wildlife, such as the beautiful Kruger National Park, I will respect this country less and think twice about visiting. DO NOT BUILD THOSE HOTELS. Unacceptable.
Guest#122 Jun 23, 2011, 16:47
stop exploiting nature for money!!!
Guest#123 Jun 23, 2011, 17:16

Leave Kruger Park as it is which is an refuge for wild animals NOT a refuge for humans. We have already disturbed the balance in the Kruger by allowing overcrowding, noise pollution and untamed humans destroying one of the only sanctuaries left in SA .PLEASE STOP FURTHER DEVELOPMENT IN THE NAME OF ALL 4 LEGGED ANIMALS AND BIRDS, REPTILES, INSECTS AND THE LIST GOES ON.

WORDING CHANGE

Please not there has been a minor modification to the wording of the petition. The details of which are on the announcement.

I hope to see more support for this cause now.

This is in part a BEE motivated deal given the Chairman of SA Parks' involvement with one of the hotel consortia. Mabunda's arrogant dismissal of Joubert's objections is typical of the ANC 'entitlement' attitude to whatever is there to plunder. Mabunda, who should know better, and who should be our chief steward and custodian, is just another patrimonial lackey. Our protected areas stem from Magna Carta and our ethical cultural and environmental stewardship from Christianity and other religions. They are not for sale.
