I have to drive 30 mins for a dog park and we meet great people and dogs. It'd be nice to not have to drive SO far for the same thing.

I would love to see a off leash park in draper! Up by the equestrian center would be so great, do they ever use the baseball field there?

Have my dogs off leash all the time and there are very few places to take my dog now days

I have a large dog that needs to run. The only place we go is Tanner Park which is getting very crowded and the over use could damage the park. Big dogs do not get enough exercise walking on leash. Salt Lake is a big enough city to accommodate a large dog park.

My dog needs to run and practice his frisbee catching. There are no open fields or parks where he can really run where it is legal to have your dog off the leash. So I break the law all the time. I would even be willing to sign a waiver to assume responsibility if another dog attaks us. Make it so we cannot sue each other or the park governing entity if an accident happens. Charge us an entry fee, make us sign a waiver, whatever. We need more off leash areas. 75% of families own a pet and there are only a couple of off leash areas in the entire valley. The Taylorsville dog park is kind of a joke by the way...too small, often muddy, and it's closed on weekends!!!

No Dodd off leash.
We are gong to fight your attempts for off leash in our neighborhood. Dogs off leash destroy and pollute sensitive park areas and they are a menace to walkers and bikers. And their owners crowd the street with their cars. Just say NO!

I think this is amazing idea and I fully support it. Dogs need places to run off-leash. Not only is it better for their health and level of exercise, but it's also better for their behavior. Dogs are more relaxed when they are able to roam freely, while on a leash they sometimes feel even more threatened and anxious when seeing unknown dogs.

I agree. It's really frustrating to be labeled as a law breaker when your dog is clearly well behaved and not disturbing anyone.

I relocated to Salt Lake City, my hometown, after living in Bend, Oregon for a few years. While in Oregon, I adopted an austrailian shephard/border collie mix. As a herding breed, she requires a lot of off-leash exercise each day. The town I had previously lived in contained dozens of very large off leash dog areas and many off leash trails. It has been a difficult transition for my dog moving into this city, where the off-leash areas are so limited.

The best behaved dogs are those found at off leash dog parks. The owners are all very responsible and do not take aggressive dogs into that type of a situation.

I own 2 dogs and live in WVC (almost Magna) . I have to drive 20 minutes to W Jordan to a dog park for my dogs. I am a single mom of 2 and time and money are tight. We really need a dog park out this way. There are 3 areas with obscene amounts of open grass that could be fenced. 1.The park around the WVC Shelter, 2. The WVC Rec & 3. the Magna Rec Center area. The pet owner population out here is big!

Definitely need more places to have our dogs roaming around. It also helps with them being interactive with other dogs which will help with having dogs become aggressive. An off leash dog park in Utah County would be fantastic as well. I don't even know of one.

I pay property taxes that support the parks and the schools, although I have no children. My dog doesn't spray-paint signs, trample plants, or leave trash (I clean up her mess), but some people's children do. When adults take their dogs to a park, we act as an informal security force that discourages bad behavior.

It is so crazy to me that Salt Lake City has close access to all these mountains and the biggest selling point is our mountains and the places we can take our dogs are extremely limited. It doesn't add up

I agree with everthing you have said, and before the property was closed accross from Bywater park it was a wonderful place for humans and dogs to walk and run, and not be harrassed from animal control. I am in my seventies never had kids so I would like to see some of my taxes go to animal parks, my dogs and cats are my kids.
