The flooding what has happened in the South of the Country is heartrending to watch the poor people who have been flooded for weeks especially the Somerset levels. It is time the Goverment got their act together and sorted out the rivers and flood defenses out. Also the corrosion of our coastline. Instead of giving money away to overseas aid it is time they spent money at home, we are no longer a rich nation and we do not have an empire anymore.

Take as much money from the overseas aid budget to put flood defenses in place once this is done we then consider reinstating the overseas aid.

This situation needs all the help it can be given, .how much money has been sent to the UK from overseas to help with the floods?
Guest#609 Feb 16, 2014, 16:08
How about the entertainment world organising some concerts or recordings as they do for disasters abroad,or perhaps our own disaster is not glamorous enough for them to take part.
scorpio#610 Feb 16, 2014, 16:18
spend some of the overseas aid in this country where its needed most NOW.
Guest#611 Feb 16, 2014, 16:30

Re: i sould think so

I would like this and other parliamentary parties to relies,
that the British people come first. It is ower hard money, that should be HELPING
ower country and not given it to other countries that do not need it.thay musts
be laughing there heads off at us. I am convinced they must see a big M on ower
government’s forehead that means MUGS to them. Why is it always us that hands
out the most money you never hear what the other country give? And now that china
and India
are lot better off, are thy going to give something back to help us .NOT ON
YOUR LIFE. So I would like not just part of this 11 billion but all of it to
help us first. In the mean time let the other countries that do nothing help
them

What do we need to do to make people like David Cameron wake up and smell the coffee. This country is haemorrhaging money to overseas countries, much of which never gets to the people it is intended to help, while our own people are having to contend with devastating floods caused by our own governments lack of investment in the infrastucture of our flood defenses.
Guest#617 Feb 16, 2014, 17:44
the moneys should be spent on our own people not people like India china who are not poor countrys
Guest#618 Feb 16, 2014, 18:22
Also concentrate on coastal defences as coastal erosion is getting worse year on year.
Guest#619 Feb 16, 2014, 18:33
Interesting to see people blaming David Cameron for sending billions of pounds in aid to countries that don't necessarily need it.
However, I would point out that the British people voted in a centre-right party without sufficient seats to govern Britian without having to do so in coalition with a far-left party, who, with their tunnel vision, only wish to consider further implementation of ridiculous policies that only they and their blinkered supporters think necessary.
In my opinion, those people who blame Mr Cameron for this fiasco are blaming the wrong party.
I suggest they direct their venom at the Liberal leader , who's policy it is to increase foreign aid to ridiculous levels.
Put pressure in the right place, if you want to implement change!

Help this country to recover from this disaster so keep the money in this country. The N H S needs funds for a better health system.
Guest#625 Feb 16, 2014, 19:21
Stop the foreign aid until this country is in order. There are people here living in poverty get that sorted then help other countries.
