Ban Tail Docking on Dogs in Ireland

It is a cruel thing to do to a dog and serves no purpose.

I don't understand why this practice is still being carried out, it makes no sense.

It is ridiculous and barbaric that anyone could legally be allowed to multilateral an animal for any reason let alone purely aesthetic reasons.

Such a ridiculous oversight by the legislators.

If the idiots who are allowing this would cop on and monitor animal abuse/neglect then we might not have the crises that we have in this country - their priorities are all wrong.

Oh my god can't believe they are even considering this barbaric treatment of pups never mind bringing it into law. We're going backwards if this is allowed to be passed.

this really needs to stop. dogs are born with tails and dew claws and should be left that way. there is no need to put them through unnecessary pain. by not amending the bill you are placing these poor pups in the hands of butchers

my rotti was docked before i got her,thankfully she has no health issues from it.so many things can go wrong with docking it should be made criminal.if a dog was not meant to have a tail it would not be born with one.i did not get my dog from a breeder but from someone who bought it from a breeder and could not keep her

Such a cruel and unnecessary practice.

This permits willful mutilation of animals and is soon to be outlawed across the EU. Why is Ireland not falling in to line with everybody else? One has to wounder who is getting the brown envelope this time? This not a show of independence it is a show of sheer cruel stupidity and again proving to the world that what is said about us is true!!!

I'm embarrassed that my JRT has a docked tail, but he was like that when I rescued him. I'd hate for anyone to think I had anything to do with ti.

The idea of letting anyone dock puppies tails for any reason or remove their dew claws is appalling and disgusting and must be omitted from the upcoming legislation.

At this day an age this is just inhumane and sickens me to the stomach. These are poor defenceless animals who are just looking fir love.

I think this is the most barbaric thing i've ever heard..as if animals in this country are not going through enough suffering by being abandoned or left in rescue centres because their owners can no longer afford to keep them because this government has bled them dry !!!!!
