I have no option but to use my car for work as I can not use public transport as I would not get to work on time. No other company makes their employees pay for parking.

Parking charges at the hospital are astronomical. It's disgusting. Now to up staff parking prices, what is the world coming to??? Thankfully I don't work at the hospital and thank my lucky stars my job doesn't charge for parking at all.

If 70% of staff are jointly covered by the Unions, then maybe a show of force on a Monday might show the Trust how we feel?

It's wrong that staff and patients have to pay anything for parking at all. Join the campaign, join GMB online.

Total all out strike is sadly the only answer, just watch the consequences of that. A time to stand up and be heard.

The unions are a waste of space.

As nurses we pay a yearly registration fee and yearly insurance to be able to work, of which both payments have increased...now carparking to increase...do they want nurses to work or what?

Agree with #110, where is Ann now? Ask Ann to fight for her staff!

Increased charges for staff and the planned charges for disabled badge holders is so wrong. Please can the trust rethink these changes!

Staff work long hours work more than they should and never claim it back. It is unreasonable to expect this group of staff who haven't had a payrise in line with inflation in 6 years or more to pay this parking charge.

#116: - Agreed! Staff, Clinical. Admin and many others work lots of hours each week of unpaid time caring for patients, we are rewarded with ever increasing workloads. we cry at work, we cry at home, our children cry, our families suffer, If we ask for help the answer may be 'we are all under pressure" get on with it! The result of this constant financial pounding is sickness, work related stress, errors and consequently the NHS IS losing the skills, knowledge and experience which it needs to provide a first class service. When not at work we are all part of the general public, we will all be patients at some time in our lives and we will be visitors. We want to hear our LEADERS at Derriford supporting us in reality. Trade Unions represent the majority of us here and without them we would have had a hire and fire, minimum wage, means tested workforce many years ago. Parking will go up this year and every year the employer will come back for more. Speed cameras next?

How can a staff parking cost increase of >100% be justified, particularly in a climate of public sector pay freezes? This amounts to little more than a pay cut for the majority of the hospital staff.

Flat rate parking massively unfair to low paid NHS staff. Base it on ability to pay

I think the whole car parking issue at Derriford is shocking - both for staff, patients and visitors. It is a place where things are stressful and not being able to park increases the stress levels. As far as the increase in staff charges are concerned I think it's awful that staff have to pay to park where they work and it is adding insult to injury to further hike the charges.

it costs me a fortune to come to work, ware and tear on my car. I have to leave home by 6am inorder to get to work on time. over a 12month period the cost will esculate- I might as well jack in my job and get something more local to where I live!!

As a student who works 37.5 hours a week at Derriford for free, paying £1.20 was just manageable. Now, I will have to find other ways and means of getting to work, meaning an extra half an hour on my already long commute to unpaid full time placement as there is no way I could afford £2.50 a day.

disgusted with the way this company has taken over the car parking and increasing the cost to park at a HOSPITAL!

As I understand it this rise will apply to those of us that park closest to the hospital. Yet the reason most of us are granted this privilege is that we work the most antisocial hours and therefore cannot use the park and ride, or public transport. Exactly how does the hospital expect me to get to get home at 2am when I finish my shift??????

i think it is criminal that they are expecting us to pay the daily parking fees to park at our work place .some people work 5 days a week thats £12.50 a week out of thier very hard earned wage,,,DISCUSTING
