Many a time I have used that crossing and drivers overtake the car that has stopped or drivers not watching us cross and drive through

12 year old seriously injured at this zebra crossing.
We urgently need a proper crossing on this very busy road.

I think it is necessary for school children that cross the road there for the schools up that road and the traffic volume of at busy times of the morning and afternoon. A child's safety must come first.

How many children does it take to be injured to make Malden road safe for them to cross.

This is the best idea it is a very poorly lit crossing and even in daylight cars don't always stop to let people cross. I've had to stand and wait whilst car after car doesn't see me standing in a pink coat and with a double buggy. So please put lights there....

Drivers don't bother stopping to let myself or my children cross, even when we have a foot on the crossing. Neraly been run down myself several times.

Cheam needs more traffic calming measures. There is too much traffic and with some excellent schools there are lots of children walking in the area. This needs to be reflected with more measures to not only slow traffic down but to look at ways to reduce the traffic in the area and bypass the village.

Cars can't stop instantly, even if you impatiently put a foot on the crossing while they're still in motion. A little bit of common sense and a few seconds of waiting is all it takes to prevent accidents. It's a shame a child was injured of course, but how much of a factor was the child's road safety behaviour? And would it really have been mollified by the existence of a pelican crossing, or would they still have run blithely out into traffic?

a very busy road fast moving traffic with bends .
As a pedestrian with small children it is always worying to cross Malden road. Traffic lights are essential.

There is an urgent need for a more visible crossing here. My two sons use this crossing for school every day so it is a concern. I have lost count of the number of times cars have not stopped for me on this crossing!

Going back to the 70's this junction has always been a problem and it most certainly is time that something was done about it - well done to whoever started this campaign - lets hope someone listens !!
