Valuable leisure resource in this area it seems a crazy idea not to maintain it for climbers and the local community.

Really important asset to this area and helps encourage people to respect and want to look after this well-managed and sensitive environment.

only climbed there a few times but liked it a lot and don't know why we shouldn't be able to keep the facilities.

Many thanks to the people who have spent their own time raising this petition, forming the BOG group and working hard to re-instate the toilet block at Harrisons. Despite being a small building with basic services, this facility benefits the many people who use the woods. Anyone who has been to a climbing location without this kind of facility know how grim the surroundings can get with toilet related waste. I am looking forward to Sport England taking an active interest in resolving this soon -it would not actually take a vast amount of money to fix anyhow.

My kids love camping at Harrisons and the toilet block and washing facilities are vital. They have previously been in an unacceptable condition, but now non existent. I would have thought this facility qualifies for sport funding?

This could be the short end of the wedge before restrictions and charging at Harrison's due to mess left by users. How about any plumber/DIY climbers sorting out problems.
Demolition will be expensive in itself (several years maintenance?)and the building will never be restored.

I take my little kids here (5 & 7) to get them to experience the outdoors and sporting activities it can provide, not so great for my little girl trying to go toilet!

How can you close the toilets at a public venue like Harrisons?

If sport England are responsible for the toilet block, they ought to be being sued for failure to meet the terms of their lease! NO?

It is a truth self eveident among climbers that in a day out on the crags, even if you've gone before you go, there's a good likelihood you will need to again. Without facilities where do you go?

Hi there I agree garrisons toilet block should be reopened as this a service which is needed there for people to camp there and if people don't camp there then there be a decrease in the revenue collected from people camping which will affect the area long term.
Also I'm a qualified electrician and I have offered my services for free to the bmc but never received a response.

The BMC aren't bothered. You can offer your help by emailing the Wizard, Malcolm McPherson, m@holisticyoga.org

He's admin for 'Bog Group' = Sandstone Volunteers, http://www.facebook.com/SandstoneVolunteersGroup?fref=ts

Part of the 'story' = Legislation says Disabled facilities should have been added to the facilities sometime ago. Closer + timing just a coincident?!

By their own operating statements it should qualify for Sport England funding but potentially poor management on the ground has resulted it not being a favourable cause.

It wouldn't be where it is now if well managed. Ok, it's not over grown, yet. Things need to change.

It’s the 21st century now. We have the facilities, this petition is to push Sport England to recognise they have a responsibility to maintain the toilets until its handover November ’14.

Rest assured there are people working on a future plan.

I am an Assistant District Commissioner responsible for adventurous activities in South East London. I often bring groups to Harrison's, and am severely disappointed that the facilities are not available.
Please, please, please, think again. re-open these loos.

Come on Sports England, how long do you think Harrison's Rock can remain a good activity for young people without toilet facilities - this is a sad state of affairs
