Stockport delivery office is a very long trek, people need this local service, especially the high amount of elderly people in this area. The Royal Mail is being driven into the ground since privatisation.

Royal Mail is the only mail delivery service that is required to provide a universal service. I do not believe it can do this effectively by continuing to centralise delivery offices.

Poor, poor service if both Marple & Bredbury are closed.

The service we presently receive will suffer as a result of closing Marple sorting office. The Post Office has been constantly chipping away at the service it provides. Other postal delivery companies are presently offering a better service in many instances. The Post Office should be striving to give us BETTER SERVICE and STOP this DUMBING DOWN

We need to encourage local services and local jobs - we will end up with nothing left in our villages.
We are already losing banks...
Also it's going to create alot more traffic going to and from stockport which is already an absolute nightmare!!!

The more closures there are, the further people will have to travel to collect parcels etc. and the more likely they are to use their cars thus increasing the traffic on our already congested roads and harming the environment. I have just walked to the delivery office to collect a parcel and there was a queue so it isn't as though it is not used by the public.

All too often, I find myself having to collect undelivered mail. At present, the Marple sorting office is about five minutes' drive away; that in Stockport is more like 20 minutes - too far!

I am over 70 years of age and able to walk to te Royal Mail Office in Marple. I do not have a driving licence and would have to use none direct public transport services to collect undelivered parcels and mail . If the Marple office is closed it would cause me great inconvenience, additional cost and hours of my time to collect undelivered items in Stopckport.. This would deter me from using Royal Mail wherever possible. If no alternative postal/carrier service was available I would be discrimiated against by the withdrawal of Royal Mail services from Marple as a person who would not have reasonable access to servives to collect undelivered postal items.

Increase in internet shopping needing parcel delivery (good for environment). And closure would cause many needless journeys to Stockport (traffic congestion bad for environment)

The staff at Marple Sorting Office do a brilliant job for the local community. I have had to use the Office for many years to collect National Exam Papers (GCSE) for marking. I could never fault the service, efficiency and frienly and helpful staff. They have always offered a personal touch, going out of their way to assist. Closing it would be a very sad loss to the community..

Marple is a lovely community minded village and removing the delivery office there will be a huge blow to the residents. The people of Marple and the surrounding areas support local businesses well and we need this office to remain open.

Sometimes customers need to collect an urgent letter or package themselves and to have to go down the A6, which is already a nightmare, to a Stockport Delivery Office is unreasonable.

We run a business from our house in High Lane, The traffic to get further afield IS horrendous, it wastes time and money to go further.

I don't want to have to go to the other side of Stockport to collect an urgent package. The A6 has always been a nightmare but with many more new homes being built on the green belt land (and they will be built despite our protests), the traffic problem will worsen.

I rarely hava a parcel but I recently did and the thought of having to go all the way on the other side of Manchester (which is what I believe we would have to do) is dreadful. Older people and ones without transport; notwithstanding the cost and inconvenience to businesses would be keenly felt.
