Ek woon al 50 jaar daar , maar het nog nooit so vreeslik baie vlie gehad nie, die diere kan skaars asem haal en eet, ons spandeer n fortuin op flie sakke en gif , dit help niks. Asseblief kan iemand dit asb onder beheer bring want die rioolwerke kan nie dit onder beheer kry nie.

We stay at Bultfontein area and we got almost 10 fly catchers hanging around. You can not even do anything outside with out the flies attacking you like crazy. This must stop it is a big health problem for my workers an live stock.

This situation appears to be due to poor planning and execution of municipal development. If a metropolitan area increases its population, the capacity of the services have to grow in order to avoid a health disaster.

ons bly al meer as 40 jaar op grootvlei en die jaar is die vliee iets vreeslik mens is te bang om jou mond oop te maak want dan vlieg hul dalk in jou mond in. ons kan ook nie meer die wasgoed buite ophang nie want die vliee is dan soos bye om n bynes, die ergste is die arme diere ons het honde en perde en hul loop erg deur want die vliee is so erg om hul oe en neuse, dit lyk behoorlik of die vliee nes wil maak daar. Die petiesie is die beste ding ooit!!!

Soos ek gese het die is die beste ding wat kan gebeur ons het HULP nodig, mens kan nie meer wasgoed ophang nie want die vliee is soos n swerm bye agter die wasgoed aan mens kan nie meer buite sit en kuier nie want jy is te bang die vliee vlieg in jou mond in en die diere lei die ergste die vliee is soos n swerm bye om n nes in hul oe en neuse en die vliegsalf help nie meer nie. Ons het HULP nodig!!!!

The smell from the Rooiwal sewerage works is beyond normal limits - it is unbearable 1000 metres and more away. It is evident that the operators are not capable or totally unqualified in the type of work.

Hierdie situasie is total onaanvaarbaar en n direkte gevolg van swak bestuur van die rioolplaas te Rooiwal.

We too have been affected by this fly plaque. Not only has it become almost unbearable to sit outside our house over the weekend, but our pets are also terribly affected.

This not only makes it unpleasant to spend any time outdoors in the Doornpoort area, but the health hazard that it poses is one of great concern.

Once again the public service industry has failed to deliver and its' inefficiency has affected the lives of South African citizens.

So often the same workers are so quick to petition and strike for pay increases, but when the very livelihood of our citizens is compromised, nothing gets done.

We need to stand together as a unified force and put an end to this madness before the diseases begin to spread.

My family lives in the Rooiwal surroundings. I do not feel comfortable visiting due to the fact that there is so many flies that a person can not breath

Even in Pretoria the situation has become unbearable. I was wondering why there has been a sudden rise in the number of flies, until I saw a comment on N24 about Rooiwal. Unfortunately the root cause is not common knowledge and we need to get the newspapers to cover the story.

We have a trial farm, for vegetable seed varieties, and the flies have increased our costs dramatically. We are now also struggling to get the farm booked out for winter trials and next summer due to flies being seen as a problem when growers from all over sa come to view the crops, and meals are served.

The sewer works try to control flies. Could be weak or incorect flybait.

The sewage work did try to manage the fly's, but suddenly the problem escalated again, so we asume they have stoped to apply controlls.  This is costing the farmers lots of money and discomfort to every one, including animals.

 As a leading Real Estate Realtor in the area, I wish to confirm that this situation as well as the sometimes unbearable smell and water contamination caused by the faulty sewerage works at Rooiwal has resulted in negative growth of property prices in the surrounding areas.

This is a huge problem both for us as humans as well as our animals. The animals are suffering tremendously.
