Crescent Glades Estate: Owners Petition In Respect Of The Security System/Measures

As owners within the Crescent Glades Estate we hereby petition the current security system and measures at the 2 main entrances i.e. the entrance next to Noordwyk Secondary School and across the Clubhouse for the following reasons:

1. The digitalized access system which enables residents to utilize the Tap-Tap functionality for visitors, which is not in use and/or not operational, this was one of the conditions which was supposed to be met upon handover to the HOA, a properly functioning and fully operational system.
2. There are a number of security guards who are on duty on a rotational basis, all of whom have biometric access to the Estate and are using this privilege to allow non-residents into the Estate without signing in, this creates a liability to the Estate and weakens the integrity of the security system. There have been numerous incidents where non-residents were allowed access into the Estate, no questions asked. Therefore, it is implied that the security guards have full discretion as to who can enter the Estate, this was not permitted by the HOA nor should it be an accepted practice as this is an infringement on the security of our properties, vehicles, children, etc.
3. The speed at which the boom gate opens and closes, this leaves an opportunity to be tail-gated and is a risk to our safety.
4. The time taken for the biometric system to read our fingerprints and initiate the opening of the boom gate, this delay contributes to the buildup of traffic entering and exiting.  
5. The sanitizer bottles at the entrance are sometimes left empty.
6. The pedastrian entrance seems to be unattended to and anyone on foot is able to
   enter/exit the Estate, no questions asked.

As owners we request that the above be taken into serious consideration and the appropriate action is taken to remedy the flaws in the security system of the Estate. We would appreciate that any security concerns not be taken lightly as these are our homes and such warrants us to take the necessary steps to protect our homes families and properties.

Therefore, we the undersigned urge the relevant person/s to act in the best interest of the Estate and its residents by:     

1. Actively making changes to the security system and measures by consulting with the residents;
2. Fixing the errors and flaws within the digital security system as a matter of urgency;  
3. Alternatively, replacing such with a more adequate, properly functioning system;
4. Assess and mitigate any risk with the access given to non-residents at the discretion of the security guards;
5. Consider limiting or removing the biometric access of the security guards;
6. Enforce the use of the visitor’s logbook; and
7. Consider implementing the use of tags instead of biometrics taking into account the COVID-19 pandemic.
