Update on the case
2018-05-10 08:49:30Thank you for your incredible response to the case of the Dog with no Name – and for standing with your SPCA to see that justice is done. We are overwhelmed by the support shown. In just a few days, over 1 500 people have signed our petition; thank you all so much for adding your voice to ours, and giving weight to our demand that the maximum sentence be imposed in this case.
Sadly, most criminal cases take 12-18 months or sometimes even longer to be finalised. Inspector Ramsamy has represented the SPCA at every court proceeding thus far and has spent many hours preparing documents and compiling evidence for this case, on top of his usual work load. We hope to have a confirmed court date soon and will advise you as soon as the date is set.
In the meantime, we hope to add another 1 000 signatures to the petition – so please encourage your friends to join in too. The more voices raised in outrage we can put before the magistrate, the greater our chances will be of a successful conviction.
You can help save other animals like the 'Dog with no Name' by reporting any cases of animal cruelty (anonymously if necessary) to 031 579 6501. We also appreciate donations of any amount towards the cost of keeping our Inspectors in the field, and providing food and shelter for rescued and abandoned animals.
