Save Cleeve Hill Golf Course and the playing of golf on Cleeve Hill

Below is the latest update on the Facebook group Save Cleeve Hill Golf Course of which I'm an admin.
Membership of this group is still growing and on behalf of the Admins I'd like to say "Welcome!" and thank-you.
As matters stand, we firmly believe the existence and outstanding growth of this group has had some important effects already.
Tewkesbury Borough Council, the landlord of the clubhouse site and which procures the golf licence from the Cleeve Common Trust, made a rapid alteration of it's stance from definite closure and demolition to welcoming bids to keep the golf operations going. In so doing it expressly referenced social media - that's this group - in influencing that.
Then, parties emerged who have expressed interest to TBC about taking over the golfing operations (which as presently organised includes the clubhouse facilities). Some of those are now known to us, a couple not. Either way this comes out of the widespread awareness of this situation, and this group and its impressive membership is a key factor in that.
The threat to the course (and what it brings to the community) has been picked up by national media including Golf Monthly, as well as by YouTube channel Cookie Jar Golf, and this group is in regular contact with both. We'd strongly recommend you check the Golf Monthly article and the Cookie Jar Golf video, if you haven't seen them already.
You might also wish to cast your eye over Elevation Golfing Nation, which is a blog and also a member of this group.
We're delighted to note that all this activity, powered by your support, has brought the situation to the attention of prominent organisations and people including Sir Nick Faldo who has proven very supportive of the need to save the course.
So thank-you all for enabling this. Please keep spreading the word, commenting on and sharing posts - that gets more membership and more reach and that keeps showing all stakeholders that this historic and outstanding course is hugely loved, has a great future must be saved.
