Thirsty Students Need Thirsty Solutions: More Water Fountains !

We, the students of Tokyo International University, are calling for increased access to filtered water on campus. As it stands, the limited availability of drinking water fountains forces us to rely on purchasing bottled water, contributing to a significant amount of plastic waste and unnecessary expenses.

Despite paying substantial operation fees each semester, we still lack sufficient access to a basic necessity like clean drinking water.

Spending over ten hours a day on campus, many of us find ourselves dehydrated as we navigate our studies. While we make an effort to bring reusable water bottles, the closure of the only accessible water fountain on campus often leaves us with no choice but to purchase bottled water. This not only adds to our financial burden but also contributes to the global plastic pollution crisis.

By providing more filtered water stations throughout campus, we can:

- Promote healthier lifestyles: Adequate hydration is essential for optimal cognitive function and overall well-being.
- Reduce plastic waste: By eliminating the need for single-use plastic bottles, we can significantly reduce our environmental footprint.
- Save money: Students will no longer have to spend money on bottled water, allowing them to allocate funds to other necessities. 

We believe that our university has a responsibility to provide a healthy and sustainable learning environment. By investing in additional filtered water stations, we can demonstrate our commitment to environmental stewardship and the well-being of our students.

We urge the university administration to:

-Increase the number of filtered water stations throughout campus.
- Ensure that these stations are well-maintained and easily accessible.
