The Right to Disconnect

Across the United States employees are increasingly pressured to answer emails, messages, and calls outside of their contracted work hours. This constant connectivity to work disrupts privacy, hurts mental and physical health, and blurs the boundary between professional and personal life.

The Right to Disconnect is the right to protect Americans’ privacy, health, and well-being. It ensures that employees can separate from work communications outside of contracted hours, helping to prevent burnout, improve efficiency, and remove the growing pressure to work during personal time.

I am against the “always on” expectation that workers must be available at all times. I am for a legal right to allow employees to disconnect from work communications when outside of contracted hours.

In order to protect health, privacy, and productivity of the people, we ask lawmakers to pass legislation for the Right to Disconnect. By signing this petition, you stand with American workers in having healthier labor boundaries, reduced burnout, and respect for personal time.
