Save Scothern Beautiful Pub’s Garden

I am against this proposal to dig up the garden which will drive people away. Several locals have said they will boycott the pub if it goes through. There is so many other things, such as replacing the kids swings etc and doing up the inside, starting food again which would bring in more custom

Rod Wilson (Lincoln , 2022-05-22)

The pub garden is an asset to the pub to build a structure so close to the road would make it feel claustrophobic

Craig Mawer (Nottingham, 2022-05-22)

#9

It’s a dreadful plan

The pub garden is the draw for customers in the summer. To have it dug up and a ‘cow shed’ placed over it will be an eyesore.
Moreover, it will drive custom away and will have an adverse impact in a known flood risk area. The money would be better spent to conduct a refurbishment inside the pub. Please don’t rip the heart out of this village asset.

Tim Croydon (SCOTHERN, 2022-05-22)

The pub garden is a key feature for the village and putting a shed over it will disrupt the natural flow of the village. I don't believe the shed will benefit the pub as the garden is why people visit. When the weather is damp/cold, customers will naturally want to be inside the pub by a warm fire.

Fran Croydon (Scothern, 2022-05-22)

I strongly object to the proposal to dig up the beautiful pub gardens and replace it with an inappropriate light blocking structure that will serve no purpose whatsoever.

Gail Franklin (Lincoln, 2022-05-23)

#36

This proposal to build an eyesore in the village is unacceptable. The main reason people visit the pub is to sit in the beautiful beer garden. The money would be better spent install some children's play equipment and renovating the interior of the pub.

Malcolm McDermid (Scothern , 2022-05-23)

#40

Look around at what makes other pubs successful. Good food - and a secure garden with play equipment for the summer months. I can’t believe that losing the garden is the way to make the pub more attractive to customers.

Kate Bateson Bateson (Lincoln, 2022-05-23)

The garden is so lovely and absolutely the main attraction of the place !! Why would you want to destroy the greatest asset of the pub ?? There is nothing as nice for miles around

Amanda Bradbury (Lincoln , 2022-05-23)

The pub is at the centre of the village with the garden being the main attraction. Removing the existing lawn and beautiful flower beds to replace with paving and a roof will take away all the character and charm, instead there would be an eyesore that would turn customers off rather than entice them in.
My late father spent his retirement years putting so much passion into tending that garden, winning awards for the pub. If he were here now, he would be strongly voicing his opinion as a regular, therefore I am signing on his behalf and feel as strongly as he would have done.
That part of the garden is the main focal point and it is fabulous to see it full of people on a sunny day, with people walking from other villages to enjoy it too. Future sunny days would see it empty, and as a pub that has historically struggled, I fear that rather than a boost in trade it would drop off instead.
I hope the decision makers will take into account the feelings of the locals and the regulars as well as the aesthetics which clearly would not work.

This garden needs to stay. It adds to the character of the pub. It will be a blot on the landscape if it’s changed, and drive customers away.

I am a long time resident in Scothern and object strongly to the proposed change of the Bottle and Glass. It will alter the whole appearance of the centre of the village. Nor , as far as I can see, will draw more clients. In fact it is the attractive Beer Garden that draws customers in. Especially on a sunny summers day.

Larraine Thomson (Scothern, 2022-05-23)

#60

To cover this beautiful garden would be so detrimental to the village

Tracy Clarke (Lincoln, 2022-05-23)

#62

We need green spaces. It is a beautiful garden and just needs landscaping

Rosie Newsam (LINCOLN, 2022-05-23)

#69

The application is totally out of keeping with the centre of the village. The beer garden is the greatest asset the pub has. Why would you destroy that?

Melanie Tointon (Scothern , 2022-05-23)

#70

I’m objecting to the proposed building of a wooden structure in the bottle and glass garden

Linda Driver (Scothern Lincoln, 2022-05-23)

#71

It’s a great pub and the garden is fantastic for the family,

David Bilton (Lincoln , 2022-05-23)

#72

I believe that the garden space is essential to this PH.

Guy McCusker (LINCOLN , 2022-05-23)

#76

The destruction of this beautiful garden and replacing it with an inanimate hard-core surface and roof in the heart of the village will change the nature and ambiance of this historic and beautiful heart of the village in an extremely negative way.

Geoff Adams (Lincoln, 2022-05-23)

#78

I love the picturesque village and pub garden when we visit relatives in Lincoln. We will go else where if you destroy the beauty and charm for hardstanding.

Ordish Dawn (Rotherham, 2022-05-23)

#84

This is a beautiful tranquil little spot I’ve often visited with good friends. This proposal makes no sense given the concerns customers have expressed.

Karen Lee (Lincoln, 2022-05-23)

My grandad, used to maintain the garden and it was absolutely beautiful. He would be absolutely devastated that this was happening.

Letitia Robertson (Sheffield , 2022-05-23)

Too much of our country is covered in tarmac, pavement and parking.

Fiona Orr (Lincoln , 2022-05-23)

#91

It's a lovely outdoor space for humans and insects, too many natural habitats being killed off .
You kill the bees food source you won't be needing an outdoor space as we need them as humans , Rant over

Tracy Wilson (Lincoln , 2022-05-23)

#93

Green spaces are vital to our mental well being. There is room for a roofed area close to the pub's back door.

Judith Douglas (Lincoln, 2022-05-23)

#94

As a local resident I believe this plan runs contrary to the community interest.

Phill King (Lincoln, 2022-05-23)

#95

This was the first pub I ever went to when I was 18 visiting my husbands family. His grandfather maintained that garden for YEARS. He would be heart sick. I am heart sick to think of that place being removed.

Sarah Gibbon (Menifee, 2022-05-23)

This area should be kept with grass for those with dogs and children. People will definitely be put off from going if it is changed. We are already short of nice beer gardens in this area.

Janette Southall (Lincoln , 2022-05-23)

#97

The village is a beautiful and lovely village, and the pub has the great potential to be the ‘jewel in the village crown’, and it’s current outdoor space is one of it’s greatest assets.
Once these things are gone, they’re gone! And very unlikely to ever be reversed.
Please save the beautiful beer garden!!

Paul Enright (Lincoln , 2022-05-23)

Mark Armstrong (Lincoln, 2022-05-23)

#110

It's a disgrace to make this a hardstanding area.

Rob C (Lincoln, 2022-05-23)

#112

I’m signing this because:
1. The Bottle and Glass has one of the most delightful pub gardens in the area - a feature that attracts many patrons. The garden is the most attractive and popular part of the pub. (If Stonegate has money to spend, they should start with the antiquated toilets)
2. I own the property opposite (25 Main Street) The proposed development would destroy the view of the village from my house, restrict the sunlight I currently enjoy, and very likely reduce the value of my property.

Frank Curtis (Fort Collins, 2022-05-23)

#114

The proposed changes sound awful, and would be detrimental to customers' enjoyment (& therefore to the owners profits - Why are they shooting themselves in the foot?).

Bryan Davison (Lincoln, 2022-05-23)

#116

This should not be aloud to spoil this lovely garden for the sake of another building .It notvonly spoils the pub it spoils the village and these people should not gey away with this .

Gary mcintosh (Lincoln, 2022-05-23)

#118

This has to be the stupidest thing I have heard of. Why would anyone want to destroy a beautiful garden that has been loved and cared for to replace it with a miserable barn. Whoever came up with this idea is an idiot.

Lyn Wilkinson (Sudbrooke, 2022-05-23)

#119

I'm signing petition because I am appalled that such a prominent and well loved feature of Scothern will be spoilt beyond recognition by any building in the pub garden. The proposed building is an eyesore and not suitable for a country pub with with such history. It's the picturesque garden that brings the locals together through the summer months and is the envy of a lot of other villages and public houses.

Heather Smith (Lincoln, 2022-05-23)

#122

I used to work at this pub and the beautiful garden was always full with customers, when it was looked after and maintained it was always commented on as to how lovely and inviting it was

Jo Morley (Lincoln, 2022-05-23)

#125

The beer garden is the best feature of the Bottle and Glass. It needs the inside updating before the outside!

Laura Benton (Lincoln, 2022-05-23)

#126

The garden needs no amendments

Scott Thorne (Lincoln, 2022-05-23)

#130

The gardens from spring t GG rough to Autumn are beautiful and add to the look of the village. Putting down slabs would be a complete eyesore and change the whole feel of that area.

Tracy Goree (Lincoln , 2022-05-23)

#132

I’m signing because I lived in the village for many years and I have very happy memories in the garden

I know many people who live in Scothern and surrounding areas who frequently go to the pub and use the facilities ... They need to have the outside space to enjoy socializing.

Paula Bailey (Doncaster, 2022-05-23)

#137

I'm signing because I have visited this pub had lovely food and drink and am looking forward to visiting in the good weather and sitting outdoors in the sun!
This pub attracts people from near and far and losing this open outdoor space would be so detrimental to its business!

Heather Lowman (Market Rasen, 2022-05-23)

#139

It is a beautiful place next to the beck, Prince William would not approve if he knew!

Deborah Morgan-Davies (Melton Mowbray , 2022-05-23)

#141

I’ve sat in this pub garden many times and enjoyed the ambiance of the flora and greenery.

Karen Caunt (Lincoln , 2022-05-23)

I am a local resident & object to the proposal
I have sent my formal objection with reasons to West Lindsey planning committee which is a public document

Debra Harris (Lincoln , 2022-05-23)

It is a beautiful garden and we like it just the way it is.

Donna Stallard-Taylor (Lincoln, 2022-05-23)

#148

I'm a local, the garden at the front of the Bottle & Glass is a beautiful feature and has been created and kept that way for years
It makes the pub more attractive to have drinks with family and friends
It should stay

Steven Pritchard (Lincoln, 2022-05-24)

#154

I love the pub garden x we always sit out there and enjoy the beautiful flowers x there are very few pubs with such a lovely outside space to cover it would be a terrible mistake

Sara Faulkner (Lincoln, 2022-05-24)

#156

I have lived in the village since 1970 and, without exception, everyone who has visited me has been full of admiration for the beautiful pub garden. Myself and both of my daughters have very happy memories of working there and carrying food and drink out to diners enjoying the garden in the sunshine. Why would anyone want to rip out the best feature in the village? Please listen to public opinion and don’t do it!!

Janet Goddard (Scothern , 2022-05-24)

#158

The garden at the pub in Scothern is its best feature, and the only reason I visit. To obliterate it would have a huge, detrimental impact on the environment as well as the village community.

Michaela Howard (Lincoln, 2022-05-24)

#164

This is the best beer garden in Lincolnshire.

Andrew Sawyer (Lincoln, 2022-05-24)

#165

It’s a beautiful England country pub garden, and should be kept like this.

Deborah Phillips (Lincoln, 2022-05-24)

#166

Too much of our greenery is disappearing. The grass/clover/flowers provide food for wild birds, bees and butterflies, as well as acting as a sponge for rainwater, rather than running off into drains and rivers.

Shawn Buck (Hove, 2022-05-24)

#171

It is a ridiculous idea! It will spoil the whole look of our beautiful village pub and will discourage patrons from sitting outside the best (and possibly only) traditional pub beer garden for miles around.

Beverley Bell (Lincoln, 2022-05-24)

#174

I do not agree with the plans to change the beer garden at the Bottle and Glass in our village.

Jennifer Hurley (Scothern , 2022-05-24)

#175

I'm signing because the pub is the heart of the village and the garden is loved by all

Lisa Harris (Lincoln, 2022-05-24)

#176

It is a natural beautiful community area to sit and enjoy the outside. We need to keep our natural beauty for wildlife which is disappearing at an alarming rate. To lose this in the village would be a great loss to the community

Hayley Neal (Scothern , 2022-05-25)

#180

i am signing because this is the centre and the structure they are proposing is an eyesore ..the beautiful pub gardens are part of the community and deserve to be preserved

helen dawson (louth, 2022-05-25)

#184

I think this isn’t what the pub or the village need
This is a village pub in the heart of the village near our beautiful church not a city bar

Barbara Shepherd (Scothern, 2022-05-25)

#185

To protect green spaces

Melissa Buxton (Wragby, 2022-05-25)

#186

The garden at the Bottle & Glass is an integral part of the fabric of the village. It is a beautiful green space that would be scarred forever with the proposed shelter.

Marc Walker (Scothern, 2022-05-25)

#195

I am a resident of Scothern and love the sunny garden in the summer
