Its really important that the seafront and beach are kept as a recreational area for all of us, and that areas aren't excluded by development, nor are the flora and fauna disturbed more than is absolutely necessary. This area is wonderful for dogs and the variety of species native to the area.

(Gosport, 2018-09-14)

#4

We need to preserve access to the shorefront and surrounding areas

(GOSPORT Hants, 2018-09-15)

#7

I feel that it is important that the public have access to and around our local historical areas. All too often money talks, to the detriment of the freedoms and enjoyment of 'ordinary' people.

(Fareham, 2018-09-15)

#16

I believe during and post developement, these historical public rights of way should be protected to retain our heritage.

(Gosport, 2018-09-15)

#18

I'm signing because these Rights of Way around Fort Gilkicker have been used for decades by Gosport residents and also form part of the Solent Way.

(Gosport, 2018-09-15)

#22

We need to have free to roam around the Fort Gilkicker east and west also the fencing that is still around the Fort should come down

(Gosport, 2018-09-15)

#23

The gilkicker paths should be dedicated as legal rights of way to reflect their consistent public usage over the last twenty years.

(Gosport, 2018-09-15)

#24

It is important to maintain the public right of way for not only this generation but future generations to enjoy as well. There are so few places where you can freely exercise a dog and its remoteness is beautiful marred only by the desecration of the opens spaces caused by the latest shell company development.

(Portsmouth, 2018-09-15)

#27

It is wrong, unfair and bullish to ride roughshod over local residents and there right to pursue pleasurable exercise in an area used and enjoyed for many. We want freedom of access and progress around the fort in all directions as it ever was.

(Gosport, 2018-09-16)

#29

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that paths that have been used for well over 20 years (prescriptive rights) and in this case close to 100 years - should not be designated a right of way.

(Gosport, 2018-09-16)

#34

I often use these footpaths, even more when being visited by my grandchildren. To allow anyone to stop this access would, to me, border on criminal.

(Gosport, 2018-09-17)

#36

I was walked along these routes as a child and in turn I take my children along the same routes

(Gosport, 2018-09-17)

#40

I walk my dog in this area probably on 5 separate occasions each week. I also visit to watch the start of RNSA yacht racing on Wednesday evenings and sometimes pick blackberries for supper.

(Gosport, 2018-09-18)

#44

I’m signing because it is important that all residents of Gosport are able to enjoy this lovely walk around our heritage.

(Gosport , 2018-09-19)

#47

I walk around Gilkicker every day with my dogs together with hundreds of local residents and visitors. If access is not protected we will lose one of the best assets Gosport has got.

(Gosport, 2018-09-22)

#51

THE LONG ESTABLISHED FOOTPATHS NEED TO BE REINSTATED AND STAY OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FOR PERPETUITY DISPITE THE EVENTUAL FUTURE OF THE FORT. THE FUTURE PURCHASE AND REDEVELOPMENT MUST ACCEPT THIS FREEDOM AND SUPPORT IT.

(Gosport, 2018-09-24)

#53

The right of way needs to be protected for the residents to enjoy

(Gosport, 2018-09-25)

#54

This is a well needed Public Path

(Gosport, 2018-09-25)

#55

Because I believe this site should be kept open as it always has been, for Gosport people to walk hampered as generations have for many. Gosport Borough Council has always had policy to have access to all the coast line around our peninsula

(Lee-on-the -Solent, 2018-09-25)

#56

I think is is disgusting that Gosport council let these things happen, we do not use that area very often but we have used it for years and still wish to use it. I also think Gosport council need a good shake up all round.

(Gosport, 2018-09-25)

(Gosport, 2018-10-07)

(Gosport , 2018-10-09)

#75

This space has been open to the publ;ic as long as i can remember - at least sixty years.

(Fareham, 2018-10-09)

My children grew up there picnic and bbqs on the beach during the summer months and lovely walks in the winter.

(Portsmouth, 2018-10-10)

#85

This area must be kept as a right of way. Historically it has been used by many people for many many years.
It is awful that the fort and surrounding greenery and wildlife habitats was decimated by the various developers, yet it is in a worse state than ever. Very sad

(Gosport hants, 2018-10-10)

#87

To retain footpaths around the fort for local residents and visitors to use

(Gosport, 2018-10-11)

#89

Historically Gosport people have had the right of access around the fort environs We have here the giants over turning the ordinary people.

(Gosport, 2018-10-11)

#90

I’m originally from Gosport , visit at least every week and have many family members in the town and this area has always been a favourite. I was appalled and disgusted at the state of this area now . To have wilfully ruined such a lovely and unique area is criminal and everything should be done to preserve something from this mess.

(Petersfield , 2018-10-11)

#91

Everyone has the right to walk there

(Gosport, 2018-11-12)

#114

These paths need protection for local people to continue to use and enjoy.

(Gosport, 2018-11-12)

#115

This will help residents who have mobility problems see this area safely

(GOSPORT, 2018-11-12)

#117

It is important that the paths are established as a right of way otherwise once a private contractor is on site things so often take a different turn than is expected and just.

(Lee-on-the-Solent, 2018-11-14)

#119

I’m signing because we as a family use this space to walk our dog and spend time as a family together

(Gosport, 2018-11-14)

#125

We need to protect our rights of way

(Fareham, 2018-11-14)

#129

Fort Gilkicker has a local support Group of over 300, both they, and British Heritage should be given a chance for suggestions and proposals as to it's future.

(Johannesburg, 2019-05-09)

#130

I'm currently 32, my whole life as a proud Gosport resident, I have grown up with family walks and have fond memories made around Fort Gilkicker and still currently walk my dog around the fort. In the future, I wish to show my children where I grew up and make new memories of their own. This beautiful part of Gosport should remain with the people of Gosport and not for a minority that are lucky enough to afford the luxury of living in such an idyllic location.

(Gosport, 2019-10-10)

#133

I live close by in Alverstoke and have walked this area unimpeded for many years.

(Gosport, 2020-10-02)

#144

I regularly use the area around Fort Gilkicker for personal exercise & that of my 2 dogs. Access to these parts of the area should be safeguarded now regardless of verbal ‘intentions to do so once sold’.

(Gosport, 2020-11-18)

#145

It's a very worth while cause and Caroline is awesome.

(Gosport , 2020-12-07)

#146

This is a beautiful site, important to the residents of Gosport that should not be accessable only at the whim of a private developer.

(Gosport, 2021-01-14)

#148

I have been walking my dogs here for many years and would hate to think that access may be restricted

(Gosport, 2021-08-18)

#149

I am Gosport born & bred. Although I no longer reside in Gosport I do frequently visit this area as it evokes strong childhood memories. I like to walk here as often as possible. I firmly believe public access should remain a right of way for all of those who wish to enjoy this important area of the coast.

#152

I regularly walk (at least weekly) around that area and the paths need to be protected from any future encroachment by development.

(Gosport, 2022-05-30)

(Gospirt, 2023-01-08)

#157

I live here and want to continue to walk along this area

(Gosport , 2023-01-08)

#158

I'm signing because, although I no longer live in Gosport, my family all do and I visit them. The area around Gilkicker has always been a special place for us and it would be a sad thing if the public were unable to use these paths

(Islay, 2023-01-08)

#161

I think it is a travesty that this beloved land mark is being sold to private developers for individual personal gain and to people with no attachment to our town. There is no doubt in my mind that those who can afford to line the pockets of property developers will take measures to keep the proletariat from accessing the fort and surrounding areas.

(Gosport, 2023-03-09)

#162

As a regular user of this path for the last 30 years along with many others I feel that it should be maintained for the benefit of all, not the few.

(Gosport , 2023-03-29)

#164

I used to walk this area for years (im Gosport born), I now have to use a mobility scooter, I was still able to use these walks, using the beach to access anywhere is not possible for me, please save these walks

(Gosport , 2023-04-17)

#168

Public access to footpath routes in and around sites of special interest and areas that have long time served as public areas should remain so under all circumstances

(Gosport , 2023-05-07)
