Alzeimer sufferers in care homes have assumed the sole duty of care to this person whilst in their charge and to have a severely Alzeimic person go by ambulance on their own to A & E from a care home is a breach of this trust if arrangements are not made to accompany them or at least have them met and accompanied whilst at the hospital.

Quite extraordinary that it's ok to put a clause in a care home contract removing the need for accompanying a dementia suffer. Surely ANY elderly or ill person in a nursing home needs support?

This is a common problem as nursing/care homes as there is a limited number of staff

I feel there is a need for each and every adult care and residential facility in the UK should by act of parliment be requierd to provide escoerts to all medical appointments when relatives are not available. I will ask my own MP Heather Wheeler to support this pertion.

My mum has dementia & I would be horrified if she was sent to A&E without someone that is familiar to her.  It's bad enough waiting for hours in the A&E department (my last visit with mum took a staggering 5 hours), but to have to do it alone is shocking.
